About The Famous Blacksmith Shop
The Famous Blacksmith Shop is situated at the heart of Gretna Green and is one of Scotland's most famous wedding venues. Since 1754, when the law forbidding under-21-year-olds to marry without parents' consent came into play, the Blacksmith's Shop has been hosting elopements. Making it a truly romantic and historical wedding venue, with the legend of the Anvil still at the heart of all our marriage rooms today.
Our Famous Blacksmith Shop now offers two ceremony rooms. Our Original Marriage Room is a truly historic venue. Enjoy a trip back to the 1700s and marry over our original anvil. Although created for elopements, the Original Marriage Room can accommodate up to 50 guests. We have also newly refurbished our Forge Marriage room which is decorated with artefacts from the era of the horse-drawn carriage. You can also marry over an Anvil and enjoy a traditional Gretna Green wedding.
