Once you've booked your wedding hairstylist, you'll want to arrange a wedding hair trial to make sure you've got your dream 'do perfected before the big day. Here are our top tips for making the most of your wedding hair trial...
Get your cut and colour sorted early
It makes sense that the length of your hair can change the look of your style, but we also recommend that you sort your colour ahead of the trial too. This can make a surprisingly big difference! Prep your hair so that it's as close to the condition and colour it will be on the day to make sure that you get the best experience out of your wedding hair trial. Speaking of hair colour, we strongly recommend that you make no drastic changes for the big day, and that you have your final cut and colour a couple of weeks ahead of your wedding to give yourself wiggle room for last-minute changes.Â
Take pictures with you
Pinterest is a great source of inspiration for your wedding hair. We recommend putting together a board ahead of time to show your hair stylist, so they know what sort of look you're after. If you genuinely have no clue, then show them your general wedding Pinterest board and pictures of your dress so that your stylist can make some suggestions for you. Have your accessories ready
Take your wedding veil and any hair accessories such as tiaras, combs or headbands with you, so your stylist can work around them during your trial and discuss with you how you want them to sit in the hair. This is particularly important when it comes to the veil, so if you don't have yours sorted yet, see if you can borrow one from a married friend!
Don't wash your hair
It may sound counterintuitive, but you should go to your wedding hair trial with unwashed hair, as this will be easier to style and have far more hold than soft, freshly-washed hair. Don't be embarrassed - we promise that your stylist will prefer it and that by the time the trial is done, it won't look greasy or frizzy.Â
Update your hairdresser afterwards
Your hair trial doesn't finish when you leave the salon! Be sure to take note of how your hair lasts throughout the day, and when any curls or updos drop so that you can update your hairdresser. If you're worried about the longevity of your style, you can always book another trial, or let your hairdresser know so that they can make adjustments for the day.Â
