Twinkling fairy lights, whimsical woodland settings, warming fires, snug blankets... Combined with a rustic venue filled with character, winter is a spectacular time to tie the knot! And The Tythe Barn, Launton is an ideal winter wedding venue.

Perfectly situated in the Oxfordshire countryside, The Tythe Barn is a stunning 14th century barn filled with rustic character. With two barns, The Nook and The Shepherd’s Hut, the possibilities are endless at this gorgeous rustic venue. Emma Deeley from The Tythe Barn shows us how they throw a wonderful winter wedding!

Bringing the outside inside

During the colder months, bringing the beauty of winter indoors is a great way to ensure a stunning winter wedding! From ivy and eucalyptus to pine and holly, seasonal greenery can create a gorgeous ambiance. For example, combining foliage-filled table runners with candles will create a highly sophisticated table setting. The Tythe Barn has created a whimsical winter wonderland with silver rustic branches wrapped in fairy lights which hang from the barn's rustic beams.

Embrace the outdoors

If you can brave it, embrace the beautiful English winter season in The Tythe Barn’s gardens with romantic festoon lighting. Gorgeous outdoor wood burners create a romantic atmosphere, while luxurious sheepskin rugs draped over rustic benches and soft woollen throws keep guests warm as they enjoy fireside pizzas and champagne!

Time for goodbyes

Crisp winter evenings offer the perfect backdrop for a variety of photo opportunities at winter weddings. Round up a beautiful day at The Tythe Barn by leaving through a tunnel of familiar, loving faces waving you off beneath a cluster of sparklers.

Colour palettes

Winter is a perfect excuse to go with a metallic colour palette, as gold oozes luxury and warmth. A metallic colour scheme is especially perfect when your venue is filled with rustic wood and natural stone. Encapsulate this in your tablescape with your choice of cutlery, by opting for a wine glass with a metallic rim or for elegant candlesticks.

Romantic ambiance

Use lighting to create a warm, romantic vibe throughout the venue on your winter wedding. Placing white candles in glass lanterns along the aisle, twinkling fairy lights on the beams of the barn and scattering tea lights across tables will create a subtle glow throughout the day. When it comes to outdoor space, festoon lighting lights up the pathway for evening guests and illuminates the private gardens for those outdoors.
