Wedding Rings are the most famous and recognisable of the wedding jewellery. Traditionally worn on the third finger on the left hand because it was believed that there was a vein that went directly to the heart, it is a treasured piece of jewellery, for the bride and the groom, and it symbolises so much.

1. Start your search early

You may have dreamt of your wedding ring your entire life and know exactly what you want, but when you start shopping around for that treasured wedding ring, it can be tricky to choose from the wide variety on offer. If you start early you will be able to browse lots of options, do your research, change your mind a few times before deciding on your final wedding rings. You should ideally leave at least 2 months to choose your rings. It takes at least 1 month for engraving.

2. Have a budget

The average wedding ring costs around £100. However as soon as you start adding platinum and precious stones and diamonds the prices can rocket. Remember you want something that will be effortlessly stylish for the rest of your life so don't go over the top in the jewellers and end up with a ridiculous ring which you will regret for the rest of your life. Having a smaller budget should prevent you from doing this!

3. Consider your lifestyle

If you are very active, you don't want to have a ring which you have to take off at the beginning of everyday. Therefore it is best to go for a ring which is narrower and has rounded edges, It prevents it from being caught on things when you are leading your busy lifestyle. Equally if you work with your hands you don't want a large stone which would get caught. It might mean that the stones become loose and you could even loose one of those precious rocks. In addition engraving, although it looks lovely, can gather dust and grease over time.

4. Inspect the quality

You want your wedding rings to be the best quality you can afford so they remain looking brand new for as long as possible. If you look on the inside of your ring there should be two symbols. One of which is from the manufacture and the other states the quality e.g. 24K or PLAT. Make sure you get what you are paying for!

5. In Style Forever

Think long term when choosing your wedding ring style. Although wedding jewellery style changes constantly, if you go simple with your wedding ring style, you will be able to wear it with everything for the rest of your life.

6. Be different

You and your partner don't have to have matching wedding rings. You are both different people which complement and bring the best out of each other. Therefore pick rings which reflect your own personalities and are unique to you. In fact you will probably find the rings complement each other, like you and your partner do!

7. Final Fitting

When you attend your final wedding ring fitting you need to be calm and at a normal temperature. It is inevitable that your finger size will very a little during your wedding, but it is really important that it fits on the day and for the years to come, not just for after when you have gone on that crash diet!

8. Keep it safe

Keep your wedding ring safe, and if you are going to take it off put it in a designated place, perhaps the same place every time. It is not just another piece of wedding jewellery, so guard it with your life.
