Here at GfB, we love to share your wedding ideas, stories, and experiences, down to the smallest detail and this feature is no exception! We're delighted to introduce to you this week's fabulous couple trying something new: Lachlan and Jean - who made the decision together to craft their own rings from scratch in a professional studio! We had a chat with to bride-to-be Jean about how they both got on...  💍

Why?

Choosing to make your own wedding rings is an entirely unique way to add that special something to not only your engagement, but also your wedding ceremony on the big day. For Lachlan and Jean, ring making was an amazing experience to mark many years together, raising a family and their upcoming nuptials - with plenty of photo opportunities for the album!

Where?

Tucked away in postcard-ready Chipping Camden, artisan jeweller Aneata Boote has an intimate studio which she opened for a workshopping session with the couple. Any jeweller will understand the sentimental importance of crafting the perfect piece, which is why taking a hands on approach under their guidance can ultimately cement happy memories for the years to come.

How?

Making your own ring requires a careful hand, eye and patience - Lachlan and Jean were able to make a day of it! They got in touch with their local jeweller, Aneata, who was more than happy to show them the ropes and help the couple to celebrate their engagement! As a jeweller, Aneata takes great pride in her work, believing that keeping traditional methods alive is of great importance today and always. The technique involves designing the creation, hand forging the metal (Lachlan's ring is composed of forged Palladium) and setting the piece - so having the expertise behind this process is critical!

Thoughts?

Jean and Lachlan came away with two gorgeous rings in silver, gift boxed and complete with a signed certificate! The amazing authenticity of the day was highly memorable and it brought the happy couple even closer together! They also came away with some fab photos that'll make for an especially quirky album - many of which featured Franco the flamingo (a rather flamboyant pink inflatable who went on Lachlan's stag do and decided to tag along!). For Lachlan and Jean, it was an entirely magical experience filled with laughter and then tears when Lachlan was finally able to get down on one knee and propose properly - a moment which called for an in-studio champagne toast!
