The role of the mother of the bride, as well as the mother of the groom, is traditionally to organise various aspects of the wedding, such as the reception, flowers, stationery and guest list, but how much is this relevant for today?
Traditionally the role of the Mother Of The Bride is to be the hostess of the wedding. This includes organising the guest list, liaising with the couple as to what their desires are, sending invites as appropriate and then collating the acceptances to aid yourself and the bride to draw up the table plan for the reception.
Becoming a Mother of the Bride is at first a very happy moment, but as the wedding planning progresses it can be daunting selecting a Mother of the Bride outfit and Mother of the Bride Hat, as well as feeling that you are fufulling the Mother of the Brides Duties. As Mother of the Bride, the most important role is to love and support your daughter in the most cheery and optimistic manner possible as she goes through one of the most stressful times of her life. Each Mother of the Bride has a different role as each daughter is different and different mothers have different relationships with their daughters. So don't compare your role as the Mother of the Bride to other mothers, as long as you are supporting your daughter and doing everything possible for her you are dong an excellent job.
