With 2020 almost over (what a year it's been...), we're starting to look at wedding trends for the coming year. Your engagement ring signifies the start of your greatest adventure together, and it will be special and personal to you. There are an endless variety of engagement ring styles to choose from, so let's take a look at the most popular styles for 2021! Don't be afraid to forward this blog to your other half to send a hint...!

Solitaire Engagement Rings

Ingle and Rhode Ethically Sourced Solitaire Diamond

A solitaire engagement ring like this one from Ingle and Rhode, is a true classic that sticks around year after year. Perfect for the classic bride, it's the epitome of elegance and the oldest style around. The great thing about opting for this design is that it will never go out of fashion, and it suits everyone no matter their style and personality. If you think a solitaire ring might look too plain, you can always pair it with a diamond banded wedding ring, once you've tied the knot, for a perfect match!

Split Shank Engagement Rings

Another popular style for 2021 is the split shank engagement ring.  This is where the band splits in two each side before joining onto the centre diamond. Isn't it beautiful?! Other ring styles can also incorporate this feature, such as solitaire or halo rings. We particularly love this stunning Ethica Diamonds split shank engagement ring. They sell sustainable, lab-made diamonds, perfect for the eco-friendly bride!

Halo Engagement Rings

A halo engagement ring is where smaller diamonds are wrapped around a larger centre diamond. You can get halo rings in a huge variety of shapes, such as oval, pear, heart, square, marquise and more. So, this means they can suit absolutely everyone! We love this classic example from Lover's Rock Diamonds with matching wedding band. Another great option for this design style is that you can choose a coloured gem for the centre stone instead of the traditional diamond. We're going to be seeing a lot of halo engagement rings next year, and they are simply perfect for a sparkle lover!

Hidden Detail Engagement Rings

Engagement rings don't have to be purely focused on the top, central stones. A big trend for 2021 is engagement rings with hidden details along the side of the ring. This includes engraving, filigree, and diamonds along the sides. You could even get your names or proposal date engraved in the inner band. This design style is perfect if you love the elegant look of the solitaire ring, but want to add something extra! Not sure where to start on this one? Speak to your jeweller as they will have plenty of ideas and examples.

Coloured Gemstone Engagement Rings

Another popular trend for next year is colourful gemstone engagement rings, and there are some beautiful colours available. We particularly love this stunning turquoise Paraiba Tourmaline engagement ring and necklace set from David Roger Sharp Jewellers! Your engagement ring stone could be just one you like the look of, or you could have a more meaningful one. How about choosing your birthstone or the stone that corresponds with the month of your proposal! Bespoke Engagement Rings

A bespoke engagement ring is undoubtedly one of the most romantic choices and is one of our favourite trends for 2021. You could design your own ring and have it made especially, or you could even physically make your own ring in a workshop! Rosalyn's Emporium is an excellent choice if you wanted to do this. It would make a great couple activity and your ring would be unique and much more meaningful to you!

Now you've decided what ring styles you like, it's time to try some out! Get in contact with a jeweller near you to see what they have to offer.
