Thermae Bath Spa

Set in the heart of the historic city of Bath, Thermae Bath Spa is the only place in Britain where you can bathe in natural thermal water.

Today’s visitors can relax in the warm mineral-rich waters which have made the city famous, just as the Romans and Celts did more than 2,000 years ago.

Thermae offers a unique blend of ‘old and new’, combining the New Royal Bath’s contemporary architecture with 18th century spa buildings.

Thermae Bath Spa offers the chance to relax in the suite of aroma steam rooms and bathe in the natural thermal waters of the indoor Minerva Bath with its whirlpool and waterjet neck massage, and the fantastic open-air rooftop pool which has spectacular views across the city and surrounding hills. Visitors can choose from a range of more than 50 Spa treatments and packages.

If you are wanting to relax and unwind before your big day, the Thermae spa experience is an ideal way to chill out and let the stress of the wedding preparations fade away! We visted on the first Friday of July; a popular time for brides and their bridesmaids. It was fabulously relaxing and very well managed and organised considering the numbers of people coming through the turn-styles on such a popular date. Despite this, it didn't seem overcrowded in any way as the time slots mean that you have an exact amount of time to spend there and that it never gets too crowded in the pools. We had lunch in the restaurant which was reasonably priced, and although slightly slow service, it didn't matter as the food was very good quality and allowed time for your food to go down before going back into the pool!

In total there were three main floors to experience with the basic two or four hour spa voucher package: a series of steam rooms, a roof-top pool which got very bright from the sun so I recommend taking sunglasses and the main thermae indoor pool with built-in jacuzzi. Additional treatments can be booked in advance; we were warned to book these as early as possible, and found that there was, as advised, no availability if we left it until we arrived.

If you are arriving in Bath by train look out for National Rail offers of 4 hours in the Spa for the price of 2.

The spa offers several packages including a treatment, spa access, lunch and robe hire.

Several local hotels offer 2 hours at the Spa at a discounted rate.
