The Alpine Vibe: A Mountain Top Wedding

Where does natural beauty, rustic charm and tradition combine? Turn your attention towards the Alpine wedding! You've seen Maria sing her heart out right? The Sound of Music game us the ultimate stunning panoramas, bringing the Austrian dream home. In Weddings, we've seen a lot of DIY, homespun days on the rise and getting married on top of a mountain is no exception!

Gather your family, your nearest and dearest, choose a gorgeous day and take on the climb with these fabulous ideas for hitting the right note!

The Flower Arch

How can you do justice to a stunning backdrop? With natural accents. We've talked greenery, we've talked the botanical, now journey back beneath the arch to exchange your vows. Garlands of flowers mingle with verdant foliage, combining to form the flower arch, a quintessential feature in new age, free-spirited wedding days! Stand together, perfectly framed and ready to take on the world.

An Entirely Natural Bridal Look

The key to nailing the Alpine goddess look is by going full-on boho babe. Don't be afraid to let your natural beauty shine through with minimal makeup, loosely worn hair (perhaps dressed with flowers or braided) and the flowing lines of your wedding dress. We think that lace or crochet works especially well with this pared down look.

Wildflowers

We cannot stress this one enough - opt for naturally grown flowers! Don't be afraid to forage, especially if you're on location out in nature for your big day - the countryside has so much to offer! Or, explain to your florist the kinds of flowers you'd like to be using across a florally themed wedding: A mix of wildflowers (for example Cornflower, Corncockle, Poppy, Corn Chamomile and Corn Marigold) can be grown in a nursery and these work beautifully together. You'll also be doing the ecosystem a favour by helping out the bees and butterflies!

The Naked Wedding Cake

Dress down your cake choice with a practically-perfect-in-every-way 'naked' wedding choice. These are lovely looking topped with fresh fruits, flowers or a combination of the two! The beauty here is that naked wedding cakes are perfect for outdoor ceremonies, festivity, gatherings and sharing! We think that a swiss roll wedding cake would also a sweet option for your Alpine inspired day...

Pretty Rustic Detail

How do you style an Alpine wedding? With love, care and attention to detail! Looking backs to crafting culture and tradition, handmade elements at your wedding will go down a treat - for example, considering sending invitations from a supplier who makes their stationery by hand. You don't have to go crazy with the decoration, like with the Greenery wedding, allow your flowers and natural surroundings to do most of the talking! Compliment this with details like posies, button hole bunches for the groomsmen, sprigs and plenty of twine to piece it all together!

Rural Seating Arrangement

Bring your guests outdoors - especially if you're exchanging your vows against a backdrop of stunning hillside views! As the weather improves, we've seen more and more wedding ceremonies turn the grass into their aisle, seating guests on logs, benches or rustic wooden chairs for a more unconventional, informal style that's bound to be a crowd-pleaser!

Love The Light

If you're blessed with the perfect Spring-Summer forecast, you'll have abundant natural lighting, which at it's best will be golden. Make the most of being bathed in this with your wedding photos; there's nothing more gorgeous than a hazy hue as the sun sets.

Mountain Goat?

Entirely optional!
