Staying in London

Guests visiting from overseas may wish to combine catching up with relatives at the wedding with a few days sight-seeing in London.

We trawled the internet for reasonably priced apartments in the centre of London and found that there were surprisingly few places offering space for more than 4 people with self catering facilities.

We did, however, come across one real gem -  Tufton Court.

This property is usually only marketed in the United States, and as such prices are in dollars, giving great savings to UK residents while the dollar is weak.

Tufton

Located in the most amazing position, in the heart of Westminster tucked behind Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, close enough to hear Big Ben. Most sights, including Buckingham Palace, London Eye and Trafalgar Square are within a 15 minute walk and both Westminster Tube Station and St. James's Park Tube Station are nearby.

The area felt very safe to walk around in the evening, and there is a Tesco Express, Pret a Manger and various restaurants a very short walk away. The flat is on the 5th floor, accesses by a lift from the comfortable lobby.

It is comfortable and spacious - about 1,150 square feet in size with lots of natural light. There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and good storage. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed and good storage, with a pull-out bed if needed. The third bedroom has a double size bed; the room is small and the space is taken entirely by the large bed and wardrobe the flat will accommodate 6 people in good comfort. There are two bathrooms; both fitted to a high standard; power shower with body jets, limestone floor, Grohe taps. The kitchen has Siemens brushed stainless steel appliances throughout, cherry wood custom kitchen, electric hob and oven, limestone floors. The living room has a 3-piece designer brown leather sofa set, various side and coffee tables. There is digital TV with 68 channels and a DVD/VHS player, and high speed internet access. Hardwood floors and a decorative fireplace add to the atmosphere of this comfortable room. The dining room has a large table if you plan to entertain at all. Minimum booking period is for a 5 night stay.

Bookings are through London Connections, based in the United States.
