Little did Sophie know that the church she looked out on from her bedroom window when she was a little girl would be the church where she would one day marry.
Not only was St Mark’s, Purton, the church Sophie had seen from her window for most of her life, and the church her parents had been married in, it was also next door to an orchard owned by her parents – which made the perfect spot for a reception under giant canvas tipis to celebrate her marriage to long-term partner Paul.
The location meant there was no need for cars or carriages; her father walked her down the long drive from the family home, across the road to the church, wearing her beautiful White Rose Bridal dress and carrying a joyous bouquet of sunflowers, to where Paul was waiting. After the ceremony, the guests could wander straight from the church into the orchard, to the magically decorated tipis, lit by fairy lights. Everyone enjoyed a delicious hog roast, a cake buffet and sweet station after the wedding. Music was provided by a jazz duo and a live band in the evening. Straw bales and soft throws provided seating for everyone by the fire.
Surrounded by relaxed family and friends, with their own daughter as flower girl, Sophie and Paul couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect day!
