So, you've found who you're going to meet at the end of the aisle. Now it's time to discover who will be walking down it with you! On the most special day of your life, you want your closest friends to be right by your side. Asking your girls to be bridesmaids is an important part of planning your dream wedding, so you want to get it right!

Take a look at our ideas to make it a fun and memorable occasion and show your bridesmaids how much they mean to you...

Organise A Coffee Date

Why not take a leaf out of Phoebe, Monica and Rachel’s books? In Friends, the girls had countless critical conversations and organised a whole host of weddings from their regular spot on the Central Perk sofa. A coffee date is a perfect and sociable way to ask your bridesmaids the big question, especially if you each have hectic schedules. Why not bring along a personalised mug or as the barista to write that all important question on your friends' cups as a fun way to ask?

Night In

What could be more fun than a girls night in? Watch a few films, enjoy a few glasses of wine, order a pizza. One of the best things about choosing your bridesmaids is that it’s a chance to celebrate your friendships. Embrace this by spending quality time with them. When you pop that question, you’ll all be super chilled out and it will bring the evening to an exciting crescendo!

Throw a Boozy Brunch

No better excuse for a brunch date than asking your girls to be your bridesmaids! Have your friends meet you at a classic brunch spot, where you can propose to them over mimosas and delicious breakfast foods. It will be the beginning of many planning meals!

Time for Tea

For a traditional, classy option, why not treat you and your girls to afternoon tea? Along with scones and clotted cream, petit fours, and cucumber sandwiches, share with your crew just how much they mean to you—and how much it will mean for them to stand alongside you as you say “I do.” Don't forget, you can often opt for an afternoon tea that comes with bubbles!

Sip Fancy Cocktails

Invite your VIPs to an evening of craft cocktails and bite-sized nibbles. You could host it at your favourite cocktail bar, especially if they have a private party room, or make it an at-home affair. Just keep the drinks flowing while you start planning the wedding with your new bridal squad!

Weekend Away

As part of their bridesmaid duties, your friends are bound to have a few special surprises up their sleeves, including: adventurous excursions, spa breaks or even a night out. With that in mind, why not pay them in kind with a girls trip away? For instance, book a long weekend, head for the beach, or even jet off to an exotic location. You can ask them whilst away, and in doing so you’ll make the occasion live long in the memory.

Get Creative

A fun option could be to take a course with your friends, learn new skills and do something that you’ve always talked about. You can even make this wedding themed, with flower arranging or creating commemorative crockery. A group activity gives you the chance to ask everyone at once, and the conversation is sure to be flowing as you work on your creations. Plus, each of your ladies will be able to take mementos away, and have a magical memory to keep.

Gift ideas

Gifts

There’s a wide range of ‘Will You be My Bridesmaid’ gifts, with some very tasteful and handy options. From candles to chocolates, make-up to magnets, there are many delightful little presents you can give. Or, for an extra sentimental gift, why not choose picture frames with some of your favourite snaps of the gang? You can splash the big question across all of these things, making for a fresh and surprising way to ask.

Just Ask!

If these ideas are a bit much for you, don't worry! A bridesmaid proposal doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Just a sweet message to let each bridesmaid know how much you value your friendship and why you want them to be part of your day. It’s the heartfelt part that matters.

Once you have your bridesmaids on board, you'll need to make sure they're look almost as good as you on the big day. Make sure to check out our favourite boutiques for bridesmaids dresses  to find that perfect look!
