Eeek!! The big day is nearly here and you are almost ready to marry the love of your life. With just a few days to go before you get married, you'll be hastily getting those final tasks ticked off the list, such as having your final beauty treatments, finalising plans with your wedding venue and getting the last of your name change paperwork in order. In the midst of all the craziness, don't forget to get to get some essential items together for the big day!

We know your brain will be so busy right now, so we've collated a list of the wedding day essentials we recommend getting ready for the big day in advance so don't even need to think! You could also delegate this task to someone else in the wedding party, such as your mum or a bridesmaid.

No-one has the time (or arm strength!) to lug around a giant bag of emergency items, so our list is broken down into three handy categories: items to have on hand wherever you're getting ready in the morning, smaller essentials to keep in a bridal clutch bag (or in your maid of honour's bag if you don't want to carry a clutch), and a larger kit to keep somewhere safe in the venue, such as a hotel room or a safe room (all venues should have somewhere for you to store wedding essentials).

For getting ready in the morning

  • Phone and phone charger
  • Portable speakers. See getting ready playlist ideas here!
  • A button-down shirt or dressing gown for sitting in hair and makeup
  • Slippers or flat shoes
  • Snacks
  • Bottled water and reusable straws (so as not to smudge your lipstick!)
  • A bottle of fizz and glasses
  • Change of underwear - you don't want to be sat in your shape wear (or bridal lingerie!) while getting ready
bridal accessories and perfume

To keep in your bridal bag

  • Copy of your vows
  • Tissues
  • Painkillers
  • Mints
  • Lipstick for touch-ups
  • Oil blotting papers
  • Nail file
  • Perfume

To keep in a nearby room

  • Your makeup bag, including makeup wipes and cotton buds for cleaning up running mascara
  • First aid kit, including plasters, painkillers, antihistamines, indigestion medicine and antiseptic wipes
  • Nail polish - one bottle of the colour you're wearing, one bottle of clear
  • Bobby pins and hairspray
  • Mini sewing kit and safety pins
  • Deodorant
  • Stain remover wipes
  • Nail glue

Once you have all of this together, you'll be so prepared that you can well and truly relax.
