Without a doubt, this would be our recommended Spa for anyone who has never visited a spa before and is a little apprehensive, or for those looking for the ultimate spa experience; a very professionally run spa with a wide range of treatments and facilities.
The spa also offers their own Celestial Spa Authentic range to take home and continue the feeling of wellbeing afterwards.
Children and mobile phones are not admitted!
“Imagine relaxing in a health spa with 6 pure, natural spring-fed pools, with water clean enough to drink. Your own lounger awaits you, creating that wonderful “holiday feeling” as soon as you arrive. Over 200 staff will tend to your every need at the UK’s largest, purest, award-winning Day Spa. You have found your Nirvana…”
Nirvana Spa covers a large area, indeed we didn’t manage to fully explore all of the facilities in one day.
The focal point is a huge pool with plenty of comfortable loungers, palm trees and pillars, giving an instant relaxing holiday effect. Adjacent is the Garden café, where a delicious buffet lunch is served, and, dispensing with the Green Tea image, you can indulge in coffee and cakes to rival those from the best coffee shops. The garden is delightful, and sufficiently sheltered for us to be able to sit outside on a crisp autumn day in our robes.
Other features of the spa include a jacuzzi pool large enough to swim in, with 52 different jets and a choice of cold plunge pools, and a relaxing “tepidarium” – a great place to relax on warmed beds after a treatment.
The spa is perhaps best known for its Floatation Pool. Many people are concerned that floatation involves a claustrophobic capsule into which you are entombed, but this could not be further from the truth at Nirvana. After a practise float in a small pool, up to 6 people float together in a large circular pool with a slight current taking you around the pool under the twinkling stars above. So deep is the state of relaxation that for those who doze off, 40 minutes of sleep while you float can be equivalent to 4 hours of sleep.
Pulse 8 Health & Fitness Club is next door and there is a well equipped fitness room and fitness pool within a different section of the main Spa; convenient enough for those wanting to combine fitness with relaxation, but not so close that you are going to feel guilty for avoiding the exercise machines.
Before arrival we were sent an information pack with details of our treatments, what to expect and what to bring. On arrival we were given a thorough briefing by a very approachable and professional member of the team, on what we would find in various areas of the spa and how to get the most out of our day.
The changing area was large, light, clean and well equipped as were all of the spa areas we experienced.
The treatments were carried out by well trained therapists using the Spa’s own fantastic Celestial range of products, all of which are available to buy in their Spa shop, and which even out-sell their range of Clarins products. We tried the Celestial Pure Indulgence Facial. In addition to being a great facial, it incorporated foot, hand, shoulder, neck and scalp massage for complete relaxation, and I would defy anyone to still be awake at the end of this treatment.
Lunch was served in the Garden Café, and the buffet offered a very wide range of delicious, nutritious food as well as indulgent desserts.
