Your son or daughter is getting married and you could not be more proud… or excited! So obviously you want everyone to be there. Did you know traditionally invitations will be from the parents of the bride, inviting guests to join them in the marriage of their daughter and her new husband-to-be?

If your son or daughter is planning on following tradition, or perhaps needs a little help with the family side of the guest list, this is the perfect opportunity to offer your assistance. Make sure the people you suggest are lifelong friends that they've grown up knowing too, not just your best friend from pilates or your favourite work pal!

Spend time finding out who they want to invite, and if there is anyone they've chosen not to invite that you're questioning, just ask them why and respect their decisions. It is their wedding after all and with tradition often taking a back seat nowadays, not everybody wants to invite their 3rd cousin twice removed. At the end of the day, your role is to support them as they embark on their new life together, share the love and help them every step of the way.

Take a look at our tips on how to create the perfect mother-daughter dream team.
