Just because we are in lockdown doesn’t mean romance has to dwindle. This Valentine’s Day, we may not be able to head out for the usual romantic dates, but it’s the perfect opportunity for you and the love of your life to get creative with your romantic antics. Here are 5 ideas for a perfect and memorable lockdown Valentine’s Day.
Romantic Dinner at Home
While restaurants are closed, the romantic meal out may need to be moved to the house. Get creative and cook your partner a surprise 3 course dinner of all their favourite dishes. Not the best in the kitchen? You could always grab your favourite takeaway!
Set the mood by dimming the lights, lighting some candles, put on your favourite romantic music in the background. It’s the perfect way to make something so simple, feel so special.
(Home) Spa Day
Wishing you were at the spa and getting pampered? (Same!) What’s the next best thing? Well, why not create your own spa day at home. We’re talking manicures, facials, massages... the lot!
Stock up on essential oils, look up some fun face mask recipes and get creative with your partner. If you plan on giving each other treatments, watch a few YouTube videos on how to give the perfect massage or facial and enjoy the relaxation.
Boozy Brunch
If you or your partner are partial to a champagne breakfast or or bucks fizz brunch, what’s a better excuse than Valentine’s Day? Splash out on your favourite fizz, grab your brunch favourites and set the scene at home.
For the food, you could go continental with a selection of fruits, pastries and charcuterie, choose an afternoon tea style selection of cakes and sandwiches or pig out on a full english with extra hash browns. Whatever you prefer, the choice is yours!
Movie Marathon
If you and your partner’s regular date night is at the cinema, then why not bring the cinema to your home? You could binge watch that series you’ve been meaning to start or even rewatch your favourite movie series. You could even rent a new movie you haven’t seen yet to stream on the day!
Add to the ambiance by eating the snacks and sweet treats you would find at the cinema. Why not make some homemade nachos, create your own pick and mix selection or stock up on different popcorn flavours?
A Day of Firsts
This is probably the first time you’ve spent Valentine’s Day in lockdown. So, why not make it an opportunity to try a few things for the first time? You could try playing a new video game together, watch a new show for the first time, listen to a new podcast, cook a new recipe or try a new food. The possibilities are endless.
You’ll need to be strict on yourselves, as it will need to be things you’ve both never done before. Challenge yourselves, see what you can come up with.
Sometimes, the most simple ideas are the best ones. While a lockdown Valentine’s Day is not anyone’s first choice, it’s an opportunity to get creative with your partner or surprise them with something sweet and thoughtful.
