Are you prepared for the unexpected? The importance of wedding insurance…
In the lead up to your big day, you may find yourself repeatedly asking, ‘have I thought of everything’? With all your plans firmly in place, you discover the day before your wedding that there’s been a fire at your venue. You may not be planning to jeopardise the most perfect day of your life, but unfortunately, other factors may. In light of the two unexpected fires at popular wedding venues, The Randolph Hotel and Clandon Park – we thought we’d highlight the importance of arranging wedding insurance.
We were devastated to hear that The Randolph Hotel and Clandon Park had caught fire. With both hotels immediately closed for weddings, couples who were due to imminently marry were left without a wedding venue. In these situations, the only thing that can save you is wedding insurance.
Having insurance means that you can afford to fork out last minute to make those alternative arrangements, or you can get your money back and re-arrange your big day. As wedding planning experts, we want to encourage brides to make this small investment which will act as a safety net for the unexpected. So, why invest in wedding insurance?
Margaret Burke, head of marketing at John Lewis Insurance said: “A wedding day is one of the most important events in a couple’s life and whatever the size or budget, having wedding insurance is a simple way to help financially protect such a special occasion, as well as offering peace of mind in case things don’t quite go to plan.
John Lewis Wedding Insurance could provide cover if the booked venue is unable to hold your wedding due to damage or if it is declared bankrupt and goes out of business. This could include cover for the additional costs of arranging an equivalent replacement venue or extra delivery charges incurred as a result. In addition, getting insurance early can be beneficial as this ensures any deposits are covered from the moment you pay for any part of the event.”
Insurance covers a wide range of unexpected circumstances which you may not have considered. The main ones are illness, cancellation cover, failure of suppliers and extreme weather. John Lewis Wedding Insurance offers six levels of cover, starting from a one-off payment of just £58 for up to £10,000 of cover for cancellation or rearrangement.
