Zambia is found in the southern region of Africa and is bordered by the countries: Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola. The Capital Lusaka is located in the central southern region of the 750,000km2 which encompasses Zambia. With over 17 waterfalls and some of the largest populations of game it is perfect not only for nature lovers but for the thrill seekers.
Although Zambia lies on the tropics, due to its altitude, the climate is rarely hot. The year is divided into 3 clear seasons, the cool, dry winter from May to September, the hot, dry season, from October to November and the hot rainy season, from December to April.
The health service in Zambia is limited and expensive therefore it is important that you have full cover with health insurance. Further it is best to avoid swimming and paddling in fresh water. It is necessary to have the minimum vaccinations of Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Malaria, Tetanus and Typhoid. Sometimes it is also necessary to be vaccinated against Rabies and Yellow Fever.
