The Bahamas are made up of 3000 beautiful Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Found to the north of Cuba and the southeast of the US state of Florida, these palm-fringed islands provide an idyllic location for a luxury honeymoon.

The location

The official language of the country is English and the capital city is named Nassau. There are over 700 official beaches backing onto crystal clear waters and rainbow coral reefs. If you are more of an active couple the Bahamas are renown for world-class water sports including kite surfing and diving. The night life is electric with a large number of bars and clubs which pulsate with the rhythm of the islands.

The weather

The Bahamas offers fairly consistently good weather all year round. The sea breezes bring a refreshing edge to the hot sun, reaching the highest temperatures between June and August at an average of 28C and the cooler temperature of 22C between September and May. The hurricane season is between June and November, and on clear nights the temperature can plummet to a chilly 5C.

The Resorts

There are four main resorts in the Bahamas, all of which offer an unforgettable stay for you and your partner as newlyweds.

Baha Mar

Baha Mar |

Located in Nassau, the new $4.2 million resort Baha Mar offers an incredible stay for your honeymoon. The resort offers sandy beaches and breathtaking views, as well as three iconic oceanfront hotels.

The resort is perched on the pristine white sands of Nassau’s Cable Beach. Nassau is one of the most accessible areas in the Caribbean with direct flights from London taking just 9 hours. The resort is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport.

The resort is comprised of three iconic hotels each offering a unique style of luxury and world-class service. Whilst the resort links the three hotels together, the pools and beach areas are exclusively for the use of the guests of that hotel. The bars, restaurants and public spaces in each hotel are available to everyone.

Grand Hyatt

This hotel offers relaxed modern luxury perfect for a romantic getaway. The hotel provides an array of restaurants and nightlife options, landscaped pools and pristine beaches.

It is the largest of the three hotels with rooms starting from $250/night. With over 1800 rooms available across two wings, an impressive entrance, designer shops, a huge casino at the heart of the hotel and a choreographed fountain and laser shows every evening, the hotel has a Las Vegas feel about it.

Our favourite features are the flamingo sanctuary and the discovery centre with turtles and stingrays.

SLS

SLS offers style, luxury and service for your honeymoon. Luxe, high-design accommodations are complemented by renowned, chef-driven dining destinations, spirited nightlife, and unsurpassed service. The 292 rooms start at $300/night.

We love the rooftop Skybar which opened in December 2008 which is the perfect spot for a romantic sunset drink. In addition to the main pools, the Privilege Beach Club opens on busier days and weekends.

Rosewood

Rosewood is the epitome of Bahamian refinement and sophistication. Impeccable, thoughtfully designed interiors inspired by the rich culture of The Bahamas are matched only by intuitive, world-class service and luxurious amenities. This hotel is the most adult orientated of the three hotels, with prices starting from $700 per night in the main hotel, with a villa upgrade option available.

Rosewood Baha Mar provides private beach access and full-service pools, an array of wellness services, and some of the finest restaurants in the Caribbean.

This collection of hotels at Baha Mar is the epitome of luxury and romance, making it the ideal honeymoon destination to start wedding bliss.

Sandals Caribbean Hotels

The world-famous Sandals resort was first established in Jamaica, since then the collection now offers 14 hotels.

This resort is considered the premier destination for a truly exotic, romantic honeymoon. The resort offers a host of amenities including the opportunity to try a host of water sports. Alternatively, if you would enjoy something more relaxed, visit the spa and treat yourself to a pamper session. The food and fine wines on offer for the duration of your stay are impeccable.

Sandals offer all-inclusive packages meaning that your honeymoon budget can be planned down to the last penny in advance, avoiding unnecessary expenditure whilst you're way.

Atlantis

Atlantis is an ocean-themed resort consisting of three hotels; Beach Towers, Coral Towers and The Cove. The resort boasts over 20 million gallons of fresh and saltwater lagoons and pools.

This resort is also the largest open-air marine habitat in the world, with over 50,000 animals. The amenities on offer are free to access for guests throughout their stay.

Compass Point

This gem is located on Nassau's North West coast, close to love beach, and is one of the areas best-kept secrets.

You can stay in unique beachfront huts or stilted villas and enjoy incredible views on your doorstep. This resort is the perfect place to unwind; comfortable sun loungers fringe the pool and ocean.
