First Dance

That all important First Dance record... but what song do you choose?  Most couples tend to pick a song which means something to them; maybe it was the song being played the first time you met, or maybe a song which you have later enjoyed together.  A recent survey by 1,300 UK Disc Jockeys has revealed the latest top 10 of First Dance records played at weddings.  These are:

  1. Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
  2. Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by Bryan Adams
  3. Amazed by Lonestar
  4. You're Still The One by Shania Twain
  5. From This Moment by Shania Twain
  6. Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison
  7. You're Beautiful by James Blunt
  8. Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden
  9. Angels by Robbie Williams
  10. I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston

Surprisingly every record in the top 10, with the exception of James Blunt's "You're Beautiful", is at least 8 years old.  If it remains there, only time will tell.  However, classics like "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" and "Everything I Do (I Do It For You), remain all time favourites and have been in in the top 10 forever.

Don't forget to check with your DJ before your wedding that they have your chosen song.  I remember going to a wedding where the couple assumed the DJ would have their First Dance song, only to discover he didn't!  Fortunately, the groom had his car at the reception and had the required CD in his glove box!
If the thought of dancing in front of all your wedding guests gives you palpitations then first dance lessons are definitely for you. Instead of shuffling around nervously, you can dance with confidence and style, making your first dance a very special moment and a wonderful wedding memory for you as well as your wedding guests.

Whether you just want to get around the dance floor with some simple, graceful moves, or if you want to be different and crazy, the only limit is your imagination. Imagine Strictly Come Dancing in a wedding dress.

Choosing a special song and learning to dance together to it adds a personal touch to your big day and will amaze your wedding guests, especially if you keep your lessons a secret! The choice of song is endless, from something as classic as Sinatra, or amusing such as I'm A Believer by The Monkeys, or crazy like Dirty Dancing or Baby Got Back.
