2018 is officially the year of royal weddings, with not one, but two taking place this year! Now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding has been and gone, we're focusing on Princess Eugenie of York's wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October...

When is Princess Eugenie's wedding?

The Royal Family announced Princess Eugenie's engagement back in January of this year, after Jack popped the question on a trip to Nicaragua. The wedding itself will be held on Friday, October 12th 2018 at 11am, reportedly to work around Prince Harry and Meghan's foreign tours.

Where is Princess Eugenie's wedding?

Princess Eugenie will follow in Prince Harry's footsteps and get married in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, which makes them the 11th couple to marry there.

Will Princess Eugenie's wedding be televised?

The wedding will be televised on ITV on a special royal wedding edition of This Morning - you can watch the full ceremony from 11am onwards.

The bridal party and guests

Bucking the trend for having only junior bridesmaids, Princess Eugenie has confirmed that sister Beatrice will be her maid of honour on the big day. As well as the maid of honour, there will be six younger bridesmaids:

  • Princess Charlotte, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
  • Savannah and Isla Phillips, the daughters of Autumn and Peter Phillips
  • Mia Tindall, the daughter of Zara and Mike Tindall
  • Maud Windsor, Princess Eugenie's goddaughter and daughter of Lady Frederick Windsor and Lord Frederick Windsor
  • Theodora Williams, the daughter of Ayda Field and Robbie Williams

Prince George, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Louis de Givenchy, the son of Zoe and Olivier De Givenchy, are both pageboys, while Jack's brother Thomas Brooksbank will be his best man.

1,200 members of the public were given the chance to attend the wedding in a ballot draw, which the Princess confirmed on her personal Instagram account.

The wedding dress

In an exclusive interview with British Vogue, Princess Eugenie confirmed that the designer of her wedding dress had been chosen and was British. "It's the one thing that I was really decisive about," she said. "As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew the designer, and the look, straight away. I never thought I'd be the one who knew exactly what I like, but I've been pretty on top of it."

Experts speculate that front-runners for the designer in question could be Erdem (as Eugenie wore an Erdem dress for her engagement portrait), Vivienne Westwood and Ralph & Russo.

The wedding cake

The couple have revealed that the wedding cake will be modern red velvet and chocolate, which (like Meghan and Harry before them) eschews the trend for traditional fruitcakes at royal weddings. The cake will be created by London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot, and the design will be based around "the rich colours of autumn and will be covered with detailed sugar work including ivy", according to the couple.

Will the wedding be eco-friendly?

The trend for eco-friendly weddings is on the rise, and the royals are catching on too! “My whole house is anti-plastic now – and Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well,” said Eugenie in her Vogue interview. We're excited to see how this will manifest itself for the royal wedding!
