Looking for some calm in the midst of wedding planning? Wynnie Tam Tam is a new luxury candle brand started by Wynne Tam, a bride who, like so many others, had to postpone her 2020 wedding. She found herself reaching for candles as a way to calm her mind. However, no matter how hard she tried, the perfect candle just didn't seem to exist. So, she created her own! We were thrilled to chat to Wynne all about Wynnie Tam Tam and why her bridal candle, Bride Calm, is the perfect product to relieve bridal stress...

First, let's start off by introducing yourself!

My name is Wynne and I am the Founder of Wynnie Tam Tam. I have loved scents since I was six, definitely influenced by my mother! She is a scent enthusiast and taught me a lot about fragrances and essential oils. In fact, one of my earliest memories is the scent of her Loulou Cacharel perfume. She taught me which scents blend or mix well together as well as other tips and tricks that have influenced my brand!

Before starting Wynnie Tam Tam, I spent years in the luxury hotel and travel industry, visiting places throughout the UK, Middle East, and Asia. The one thing that stood out to me everywhere I went was how I felt connected to each location by its unique scent. This sparked a dream, to help people to relax and connect their own important life moments to fragrance. So, Wynnie Tam Tam was born!

What's special about Wynnie Tam Tam candles? Why do people purchase them? 

Wynnie Tam Tam candles have several unique properties which make them special and desirable. Firstly, each candle is handmade by yours truly, so a lot of love and effort goes into each candle to make it perfect! Next, they are sustainably sourced and made with non-toxic and paraffin-free ingredients. My candles are also fragrance oils free as I only use 100% natural essential oils derived directly from plants, flowers, and fruits. Also, my candles have one of the highest oil-to-wax ratios with over 25mL (500 drops) in each, hand-poured soy candle. This results in up to 48 hours of burn time, for all-day stress relief.  

So, what is the difference between essential oil and fragrance oils? 

Pure essential oils are natural products extracted from different parts of plants through processes such as steam distillation, solvent extraction and expressed oils. In short, this is a much more natural extraction process. On the other hand, fragrance oils are manufactured synthetic scents with added chemicals to enhance the aroma. Fragrance oils have a much stronger scent due to the synthetic ingredients. Essential oils have a weaker scent, so we need more oils to scent a candle. However, from a health perspective, essential oils are much better for you to inhale!

And what is the difference between soy wax and paraffin? 

Soy wax is all-natural as it is made from soya beans. Paraffin wax is made of petroleum, which is horrible to the environment. This is the same material used for petrol oil and gas. Paraffin wax is full of bad chemicals and is especially bad for you to breathe in. However, many people don't consider this when making candles. At Wynnie Tam Tam, we only use non-toxic ingredients as our hand-poured candles are made with the highest amount of attention to detail, love, and care.

Can you describe Bride Calm to us? 

Bride Calm is the first candle in my collection, perfect for the bride looking to find calm in the midst of wedding planning stress! Bride Calm has a natural floral scent, very clean and elegant. I have blended in my special own recipe, a gorgeous blend of Lavender, Geranium, and Ylang Ylang.

Lavender calms both body and mind, Geranium relieves your bridal stress and tension, and  Ylang Ylang promotes mental relaxation. All of these will help ease any bridal worries before and during the big day! I would say this blend is very 'scent-friendly' as it is a scent that many people would enjoy.

Do you have any new, upcoming products? 

Yes, I have two new products currently in development. I can't reveal too much but I can say that the next candle will be especially for weddings!
