Crazy for Cacti: Succulents At Your Wedding
The humble cactus has been having a bit of a moment lately – we’ve all seen it: in fashion, footwear, prints, wall art and decorating windowsills the world over! So, why are our prickly friends so popular? They’re quirky, colourful and beautifully exotic! If you’re looking to rock a zany summer wedding, or are after a fresh take on the alternative celebration, then here are the ideas that’ll make you go crazy for cacti and roll out the succulents at your wedding!
Why not swap traditional flowers for succulents for an added pop of colour and texture in your table arrangements. If you’re worried about it looking too green why not mix it up with some subtle oranges and pinks like these beautiful wreaths!
Take A Seat
Cacti might not be your first thought when providing a comfy place to sit for your guests, but these cacti print cushions would be a great addition to any outdoor furniture- a great way to enhance your theme and no prickles involved!
A Blooming Bouquet
We love the addition of succulents to real bride Joanna’s bouquet. These popular plants add a lovely contemporary twist to her classic colour palette of blush pinks and creams and we reckon they’d also look great with brights like spicy oranges and hot pinks- just don’t try this with prickly cacti or whoever catches it will get a nasty surprise!
Potty For Plants
What better way to display your table numbers than in a cactus pot?! Offset your spiky centrepiece with some bright flowers or alternatively go minimalist with gold accents. If you’re feeling creative you could even paint the numbers straight onto the pot and add some decoration!
Spike A Pose
Why not incorporate cacti or succulents into your wedding photography- we love this shot of the rings and who knew this little plant would make such a great background?
Perfect Paper Craft
We’ve seen how stationery has come on in the past year with bold, experimental design, uniquely hand crafted elements and playful materials! We adore the trend for brilliant paper craft and all the new ways to design and deliver your wedding invitations! When it comes to cacti and succulents, get back to nature with raw paper, parcel string (or garden twine) and gorgeous inks or opt for on trend watercolour brights like this gorgeous design from On Cloud Nine stationery.
Take Your Place
Ditch place cards and write your guests names on labels for these tiny cacti. You could even use them as favours for your guests to take away- what better souvenir for your guests than something that will last long after your special day is over?
Combine on trend LED lights with your love of catci with decorations like this quirky light, perfect for tables or to illuminate darker corners of your venue. We think your guests will love it as much as we do just be prepared for the queues of people waiting to Instagram it!
