We were invited to experience some bridal pampering with top hair stylist Matthew Clulee, and we're really excited to share some industry insights (as well as our gorgeous hair and makeup looks) with you!
First up was hair, our lovely stylist Leah explained that although the traditional up-do was still popular, they've seen an increase in popularity for having your hair down, or a half-up-half-down look on your big day. We decided on one up-do and one half-up-half-down look. For the up-do, Katie's hair was plaited and then pulled out before being twisted into a low bun. A soft look was created around the front to keep a natural bridal style. If you've chosen a dress with a lot of detailing on the front or back, having your hair up is the best way to show this off.

Alison's half-up-half-down was twisted at the back, with a soft look around the face was perfect for brides wanting to wear their hair down, but without it feeling like an everyday look. Our makeup artist, Zara, explained that when a bride comes in for a hair and makeup trial, they always start by talking about the dress and seeing pictures of it, so that they can build the look around this. The last thing you want is beautiful detailing on the back of your dress that no one can see!
We chatted about our everyday makeup look with Zara before she started on our faces - after all, you want to still look like yourself on the big day. She explained that the key is enhancing a bride's natural beauty, rather than trying something bold and different. Photographs must also be taken into account, as a bride you may need slightly heavier makeup than usual to ensure that it looks great in all the wedding snaps. Lastly, longevity is important - weddings usually involve crying, dancing and a long day, so you need to make sure that your makeup look is still looking strong as you party into the small hours.
