Struggling to finalise your perfect bridal look? We spoke to CJ Beauty & Co for the latest 2021 bridal trends so you can discover your perfect bridal look!
2021 Bridal Looks for Hair
Sleek and classic hairstyles will always be a traditional bridal style. However, the trend for 2021 is definitely more ‘lived-in’, effortlessly elegant styles and beautifully soft, romantic up-dos. The bigger, loose, messy up-dos are also going to be massive this year. More and more brides want to make a bigger statement with their hair on their long-awaited special day!
Twisted buns replace the traditional barrel-curled updo, and beach waves continue to replace tighter styled curls, for that gorgeous boho vibe. Low buns or high buns alike are highly popular, replacing the traditional style buns. Messy buns and structured buns are popular options for bridesmaids, along with half up half down styles – but the emphasis is on relaxed ‘softness’ and hair that is ‘not scraped back’. Rosebuns remain a very popular style for 2021, adding a stunning romance to your look, whilst making your hair a real feature.
Long braided styles remain popular and can be as structured or as relaxed as you wish. Fresh flowers in the hair are increasingly popular with brides and bridesmaids, perfect for a more relaxed wedding or for that boho feel. The low bun with a braid over continues to be a style that is popular with bridesmaids and younger brides.
I’ll always love the classics! Mums are choosing soft and elegant French pleats and chignons for a classy elegance, or opting for soft, effortless waves for a more relaxed look. 2021 brides are asking for a softer version of these classics for a more modern edge, adding a stunning hair accessory for a glam look or fresh flowers for a more romantic take on the same style.
Hollywood Waves are also big news at the moment – perfect if you’re looking for a down-do that oozes style and elegance with a vintage vibe! For a more relaxed look, brides are choosing loose flowing curls with fresh flowers to accessorise.

2021 Bridal Looks for Makeup
After a year where many brides-to-be have gone makeup-free, bridal makeup has taken a turn towards a more natural look. Brides have become more focused on skincare over the last year. So, to celebrate their glowing skin, summer brides are asking for a lighter, flawless base, glowing skin, more natural-looking brows and soft peachy lips. So, they can look, and feel, like the very best version of themselves! However, whilst the trend for summer weddings is for a lighter base and peachy lips, winter brides are asking for a heavier base and a bold lip to compliment bridesmaid colours or flowers.
Fewer brides are asking for a heavy contour or a ‘chipped in’ brow. Fashion trends are kept on the catwalk as brides focus on keeping their makeup looks timeless. Bridal makeup continues to focus on the eyes. Smoky eyes continue to be popular and brides are choosing strip lashes or individual cluster lashes over semi-permanent lashes or lash lifts for their special day. So, lashes are perfectly black, perfectly even and more complementary to the overall makeup design your artist creates.
