In the romance stakes, Daryl’s proposal ranks pretty high. Having watched the sun rise on beach in Barbardos, he went down on one knee on the beach and proposed to girlfriend Anne - who promptly burst into tears.
The Crazy Bear in Oxfordshire’s Stadhampton provided an equally exotic venue for the nuptials themselves, with its ornate Moroccan themed function rooms making the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and reception. ‘We liked the idea it was kept all in one place,’ explains Anne ‘so people could relax and enjoy themselves, not having to travel from place to place.’
In fact, it was only the groom who needed wedding transport, and he chose to make his entrance in high style, flying in a helicopter to the hotel’s helipad, accompanied by his best man (who is overcame his fear of flying to be there for his friend on the day), the chief usher and the toastmaster.
The Crazy Bear provided a Thai taster menu for the reception, followed by curried goat in the evening - a traditional Carribean dish cooked especially for the occasion by Daryl’s Dad.
