When Joe ‘bought’ Natalie at a fundraising auction for just £50, it turned out to be money well spent. Their first date was at his commissioning ball just a few days later and on their sixth anniversary, he proposed outside Westminster Abbey and they tied the knot at their local church in Esher.
Clandon Hall was chosen for the reception as it was only 25 minutes from the church. Natalie’s mum took her to have a look and she fell in love with it straight away. ‘The marble hall was perfect if we couldn’t use the gardens in case of bad weather,’ explains Natalie. It proved to be a wise choice, as the wedding day itself was indeed somewhat wet.
Natalie’s beautifully romantic dress was from the Caroline Castigliano collection and she kept the colour scheme to a simple purple and white. ‘My mother tried to sneak some pink in,’ she laughs, ‘but I was firm!’
Natalie’s words of wisdom for other brides? ‘My advice would be to relax and not get too stressed if everything doesn’t go to plan. I worried about things and found out afterwards my guests hadn’t even been aware that things hadn’t gone to plan!’
