Italy often tops the list when it comes to the best honeymoon destinations in the world. The country has long attracted lovers from around the world due to its romantic vibe. It’s home to stunning beaches with romantic sunsets, beautiful architectures, and charming vineyards. In short, everything that couples would want for a perfect luxury honeymoon vacation.

A honeymoon in Italy is truly a magical experience. You can indulge in the most sumptuous pizzas in Naples, take a stroll through the ancient buildings of Rome, watch the stunning sunset views in the Amalfi Coast, cruise along the canals of Venice, or savour the most delicious wine in Chianti. If you need more convincing, here are the top reasons why Italy should be your honeymoon adventure.

Italian food

1. Sensational Cuisine

Your honeymoon is a perfect excuse to indulge in delicious foods. The best place to do this is in Italy, home to some of the world’s most delicious cuisines.

In Naples, you can treat yourselves to the most delectable Napolitano pizzas as you admire the stunning city views. As Naples is the birthplace of pizza, it's unsurprising that the city is home to hundreds of pizza shops. Pizzeria Fratelli Salvo and 50 Kalo are among the best pizzerias to check out. Don’t forget to order a glass of wine to go with your wood-fired Napolitano pizza!

For pasta lovers, get your pasta fix at some of Rome’s finest restaurants. After exploring the Colosseum and making a wish at the Trevi fountain, take your new spouse to Armando al Pantheon and get your hands on a big bowl of carbonara. For some of the tastiest gelato in Rome, make your way towards the Gelateria La Romana, a popular gelato shop.

2. Immersive History

Italy is a land steeped in history and culture, making it a perfect destination for honeymooners who want to partake on a fascinating historical excursion. Rome is without a doubt the best place to start on your historical tour, as it is home to the magnificent Colosseum. With its ancient architecture and magnificent piazzas, Rome is a truly unforgettable honeymoon destination.

The best way to tour Rome and discover its rich history is by doing a Dark Tour. Join other history buffs, skip the lines and follow your guide as you walk along Piazza Navona while passing at the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. These are four of Rome’s most iconic landmarks that culture lovers should not miss.

There are so many things to discover in Rome, and you can’t see everything in just a day or two. Plan your trip well and make sure you make the most of your Italian honeymoon!

Amalfi coast

3. Breathtaking Views

Italy is home to so many stunning views, from the beautiful vineyards of Tuscany to the charming coastal villages of Cinque Terre, or the impressive Florentine panorama in Piazzale Michelangelo. But if you are to choose only one place for your honeymoon, make it the Amalfi Coast.

Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Amalfi Coast is known for its pastel-coloured villas nestled on the steep cliffs, with the magnificent panorama of the Mediterranean Sea in the background. As you explore beyond the sea, you’ll come across lush forests, terraced vineyards, and lemon groves that make the view even more breathtaking.

Go on a trek with your partner and watch the sunset by the sea or book a table at one of the cliffside restaurants. Check out the village of Furore, home to a cosy marina and colourful houses nesting by the cliffs. If you want to take a dip and relax with your loved one away from the tourist crowd, visit Spiaggia di Laurito, a lesser-known honeymoon spot, surrounded with stunning cliffside views.

Venice

4. Romantic Atmosphere

When it comes to the top romantic vacation destinations in the world, Italy will surely come up on the list. Considering Italy's quaint seaside villages, dramatic sunsets, breathtaking vineyards, idyllic islands, and ancient historical sights, it's hardly surprising. But for the most romantic experience with your loved one, nothing beats a Venetian gondola ride!

Exploring Venice on a gondola is, in fact, one of the most romantic things to do on your honeymoon in Italy. And as you take in the scenic sights along the canals, your gondolier will serenade you with some romantic Italian classics, such as O Sole Mio. Isn’t that the most romantic experience ever?

After your gondola ride, take time to explore the gorgeous sights of Venice, including the magnificent Saint Mark’s Basilica and the famous Rialto Bridge. And for a more relaxing holiday in this romantic city, rent a nice Venetian apartment that opens to the gorgeous views of the canal.

Italian wine

5. Good Wine

Your honeymoon would be incomplete without indulging in some fabulous wines. You’ll definitely have plenty to choose from when it comes to delicious wines in Italy. After all, it's one of the top wine producers in the world. Why not enjoy a picturesque drive along the rolling hills of Tuscany to visit this famous wine-growing region?

Situated between Siena and Florence, Chianti is known for its medieval towns and stunning vineyards and olive groves. It is the country’s most ancient wine-growing region, and started producing wines as early as 8th Century BC. Most of its wines are made from the Sangiovese grapes, which are native to the region.

Although Chianti is famous for its wine, there are lots of interesting things to discover in its lovely town. Explore the narrow cobblestone streets, and the cosy cafes and quaint shops on the main plaza. Check out the local handicrafts and sample the locally made meats, cheeses, and of course, its famous wine.
