With minimoons on the rise, more and more couples are taking a short break in the UK after the wedding day. With stunning beaches, mountain ranges and postcard-perfect towns, there are plenty of UK destinations to choose for your romantic break. Need some inspiration? Here are five destinations for minimoons in the UK you should consider.

Walking in the Lake District

Even if you're on a tight budget after the wedding, you can still enjoy a minimoon by taking a leisurely walk in the Lake District. This area of the UK is not only beautiful, it can also be surprisingly affordable.

There are many walks you can choose from, all in one of the most scenic locations in England. There are plenty of established walks to try out, but the most adventurous walkers can always go off the beaten track and discover something new. Be warned - some of the walks can be long! But what better way to spend quality time with your new spouse than a romantic walk?

Cornwall | UK minimoons | Guides for Brides

Surf break in Cornwall

Even if you've never surfed, a beach break is sure to help you unwind after your wedding. In our opinion, there's no better place in the UK to experience surfing than Cornwall.

There are many areas to surf and enjoy the waves along the Cornish coastline, so take your time finding the right spot. If you enjoy a romantic seafood meal plucked straight from the ocean, accompanied by a glass of wine, then Cornwall is the place for you.

City break in London

Prefer city minimoons? If you’re looking for something a bit more up tempo, why not consider visiting the hustle and bustle of London? Here, you can walk London's historic streets and visit the many museums, shops, theatres and restaurants. You could even get a knowledgeable tour guide who will take you through famous places in this city.

There are many luxurious hotels to choose from as well, so you can treat yourself in the short term before going away on a longer honeymoon further afield.

Cottage break in the Cotswolds

If you want to spend a cosy minimoon in a home away from home, there are many comfortable and affordable cottages in the Cotswolds waiting for you. This is also a great idea if you want to take your pets with you.

In the serene Broadway village, you can find a variety of beautiful cottages. It’s perfect if you wanted to minimoon with your close family or if you want to go just the two of you. There are also plenty of pet friendly cottages to choose from in case you want to take your furry friends!

Oxfordshire | UK minimoons | Guides for Brides

Narrowboating in Oxfordshire

If you love water-related activities and want something a bit different for your minimoon, you should consider narrowboating. One of the most exciting places for this is Oxford, due to its meandering canals. You can, for example, find your way onto some beautiful stretches of the Thames.

If you’re looking to connect with nature after tying the knot, you will have a lot of wildlife to watch along the way. There are also plenty of other canals you can choose to visit. If you like it quiet, you can book a Narrowboat holiday boat and feel like you are at one with nature as you follow the water.

Once you have your UK minimoon booked, you might want to start planning for a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon abroad too! Take a look at our top honeymoon destinations here...
