It’s not every day that you get married, so why not make the most of it with a luxury honeymoon? Your honeymoon should be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and you'll definitely need to relax after all the excitement and stress of wedding prep, so why not treat yourself? If you need inspiration, here are five of our favourite destinations for a luxury honeymoon...

Cancun Mexico | Luxury honeymoon ideas | Guides for Brides

Cancun, Mexico

If you and your new spouse are the life of a party, Yucatán Peninsula’s Cancun is the best place for your luxury honeymoon! As it's next to the Caribbean, you can expect plenty of white sand beaches and tropical-themed resorts. By day, you can relax on the beach and enjoy the sound of the waves while feasting on authentic Mexican cuisine. By night, the fun intensifies, thanks to Cancun’s bustling nightlife.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy, such as cruising, diving, snorkelling, and visiting iconic places like the Mayan ruins and exploring the natural reserves. The place has a lot to offer especially during November to April, which avoids hurricane season. If you’re a couple who love to party, eat tacos and drink lots of top quality tequila, Cancun is the place for you.

Provence France | Luxury honeymoon ideas | Guides for Brides

Provence, France

Paris isn’t the only French attraction that appeals to couples seeking romance. Provence, a region in the southeast of France, is also one of the country’s most famous areas due to its picturesque and laid-back atmosphere. If you’re looking for something a little more secluded, a Provence villa in the country should be high on your list.

Honeymooners should visit from June to mid-July, as these months are when the eminent purple lavender fields are in full bloom. There is also a breathtaking view of the snow-capped Alps and the gleaming Mediterranean from the region’s hilltops. In fact, the area is so beautiful that it inspired renowned artists like Cezanne and Van Gogh.

As for food, Provence is famous for being the birthplace of ratatouille and bouillabaisse, among others. It boasts dishes cooked with fresh, home-grown ingredients that are ideally paired with the region's wine. What’s more, there are plenty of culturally-rich places to stay in and visit after a good meal. Provence has high-speed trains to make touring fast and convenient, getting you into your luxury honeymoon quickly so you can take the rest of it nice and slow.

Pilanesberg South Africa | Luxury honeymoon ideas | Guides for Brides

Pilanesberg, South Africa

Wanting to experience something out of the ordinary? A trip to Pilanesberg in the Northwestern part of South Africa guarantees an extraordinary experience. Not every newlywed on their honeymoon will have a close and personal encounter with the “big 5”—that is, the buffalo, rhino, elephant, leopard, and lion. If you love animals and nature, then this safari honeymoon destination is perfect for you.

As well as safari, Pilanesberg’s nifty tourism system provides visitors with affordable and convenient package-tour options. One package, for example, could include a full-day Pilanesberg National Park Safari, a sunrise hot-air balloon safari complete with transportation, food, and accommodation, all planned for you. This makes your stay stress-free; all you have to do is enjoy the wonders of nature with the company of your beloved.

Goa India | Luxury honeymoon ideas | Guides for Brides

Goa, India

Goa is the beach capital of India. Needless to say, it is home to a plethora of beautiful beaches that are perfect for water sports such as scuba diving, kayaking, snorkelling, and parasailing. For a luxury honeymoon, you can choose from Goa’s many high-class hotels. These not only provide luxurious accommodation, but some of the best seafood in India as well.

Other than the beaches, Goa is also rich in cultural relics such as Portuguese-style buildings and historic cathedrals. This is ideal for newlyweds who want to experience one of the world’s most unique civilisations. There is a lot more to explore in Goa when you experience it firsthand, but if you wish to avoid the crowds, the best time to visit is March, April, or October.

The Maldives

The Maldives

If you haven’t heard of the incredible islands of the Maldives, you are certainly missing out. The Maldives’ crystal clear waters and white-sand beaches are the main reasons that honeymooners dream of visiting. Who wouldn’t though, when there are so many things to see and do here?

In the Maldives, you could try activities like catamaran sailing, diving, surfing, and swimming with whale sharks. After all these, you can head back to your lavish villa or water bungalow, which are both relaxing and perfect for Instagram-worthy photos.
