India is a popular honeymoon destination loved by newlyweds the world over. While there are many places in India ideal for a visit individually or as part of a wider tour for the more adventurous, there are four Indian honeymoon destinations that we think everyone should experience…

Andaman Islands | Indian honeymoon | Guides for Brides

Andaman Islands

The Andaman Islands have a moderate climate to allow visits at any time of the year, which is an important thing to consider while looking into any honeymoon in the subcontinent. However, winter is the best choice, as it allows couples to enjoy water activities at their peak.

There are beautiful, marooned islands with exciting scenery to see and no shortage of white sand beaches. It also has a wonderful selection of fabulous hotels where couples can enjoy deliciously spiced meals and opulent accommodation.

Couples can enjoy several activities while on the Islands, including water activities such as surfing and boat trips. If you want to save some pennies, you can simply enjoy a romantic walk along the beach.

Alleppey | Indian honeymoon | Guides for Brides

Alleppey

Alleppey is a beautiful place to visit for a honeymoon, and couples can enjoy a wide variety of attractions here. This place is famous for the houseboats, where newlyweds can enjoy a quiet and relaxing time together.

Alleppey is home to many exotic birds to watch, and the amazing sunsets make for a perfect view while canoeing. Alleppey’s beaches can satisfy any cocktail urges you have, and the region has plenty of beautiful hotels where you can opt for a little extra extravagance if wanted. The locals are also experts in Indian food and the culture of the place will totally transport you.

Agra | Indian honeymoon | Guides for Brides

Agra

Agra is a destination famous for the moonlight viewing of the Taj Mahal. This occurs for only five days during a month, so you'll be lucky to catch this on your Indian honeymoon. This iconic monument took workers 17 years to build, and is free to visit. We do recommend taking a guided tour with an English-speaking local guide expert, as this is a luxury worth shelling out for.

The Taj Mahal is not the only attractive monument in the region; Agra has other several UNESCO accredited heritage sites to explore, such as Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort. The Taj nature walk is perfect for viewing the beautiful scenery, and other romantic spots include the Khajuraho Caves and bird sanctuaries such as Bharatpur. There's plenty to keep you busy here!

Munnar Tea Gardens | Indian honeymoon | Guides for Brides

Kerala

Kerala is a perfect romantic escape in India, ideal for honeymoon activities. The most famous destination in the region the unique Munnar Tea Gardens, which attract thousands of couples who come to enjoy walks through the plantation. The garden is also home to some wonderful Indian wildlife, as well as stunning waterfalls.

If the sun is getting overbearing, you can head to the beach for a dip and some ocean breeze. Water activities are common, so if you’re not up for walking around all day, why not try jet skiing for an evening of high-powered fun? For a more relaxing activity, why not book a floating cottage?

Located in the South of India, Kerala's food is different from the North and tends to be lighter and more vegetable-based. As a result, this is a highly recommended Indian honeymoon for any couples looking for a vegetarian or vegan friendly getaway.

These four regions in India offer amazing sites and activities for couples who are looking for a honeymoon to remember. Still on the lookout for your perfect honeymoon destination? Take a look at our honeymoon suggestions here!
