On October 23rd, Nicola Sturgeon announced that Scotland will be introducing a new 5-tier system to prevent the need for a full, national lockdown. It features five tiers of measures - from "level zero" to four - to be applied in different areas of Scotland depending on the spread of the virus. This system will come into force from 2nd November and a decision will be made on which tiers will apply to different regions this coming week. Here we will explain the key facts and how weddings are affected in each tier.

The wedding preparations and plans of many couples have been changed by coronavirus. Whether it’s been virtual venue tours, digital dress shopping or remote meetings with suppliers, wedding preparations in 2020 have looked very different. Wedding fairs have also, inevitably, been affected by COVID. These events are often perfect for couples to tick off several items on their planning ‘To-Do’ lists, but lockdowns, social distancing, and bans on any type of exhibition, mean they cannot take place as they normally would.
Currently in the UK, both wedding ceremonies and receptions have limited numbers depending on where you live. Wedding ceremonies and receptions in England are currently limited to 15 people. So, many couples planning Asian weddings are having to face the challenge of downscaling large celebrations (originally averaging 300 guests) if they want their weddings to go ahead.
Beach weddings are known and loved for their sheer simplicity and natural beauty, allowing couples to say "I do" amidst the sun and the sand. While they can be held anywhere in the world, beach weddings most often involve sunny ceremonies in tropical destinations.
On October 12th, the Prime Minister announced in Parliament that due to the second wave of coronavirus in the UK, he will be introducing a 3 tier system in England to curb the spread in areas with rising cases. These areas will be rated by risk and identified as “Medium”, “High” and “Very High”. Here we will explain the key facts and how weddings are affected in each tier.
