Wedding Fair in conjunction with the Portaferry Hotel
Shouldn’t every bride be a goddess? With classical architecture modeled on the Greek Temple of Nemesis, Portico is the perfect venue for a romantic, elegant wedding. This beautifully restored former church is now a non-denominational grade A listed venue hosting weddings of all kinds. Stunning architectural features such as original wooden pews and stained glass windows combine with discreet modern technology to provide a venue worthy of the gorgeous natural scenery all around.
Portico seats 200 on the ground floor and 150 in the gallery. Our first floor terrace, beautiful garden and spacious quadrangle are ideal for champagne and canapés after your wedding. Should the weather prove unkind our Orr Meeting Room, paneled in period style, or the gallery with its exhibitions, are characterful alternatives. There is a small kitchen on site or, through our partners, catering options from sandwich lunches or canapé receptions to fully fledged banquets, all at highly competitive rates. For larger receptions we recommend a marquee in our landscaped grounds, the historic Old National School community hall opposite or the Portaferry Hotel. Whether you are looking for views of rolling hills, the Mourne mountains or the coastal beauty of Strangford Lough, there is a wide range of catering and accommodation offers available across this scenic area.
Can we have any kind of religious wedding at Portico? Yes! Bring an officiant from any denomination or we can help you find one.
Can we have a non-religious wedding at Portico?
Yes!* We work with celebrants who create bespoke ceremonies with elements such as hand-fasting, broom jumping or simple vows and playlists. *You will also have to visit a Registry Office in the days before or after to register the marriage legally.
How much does it cost? We have a flat fee for 2017 of £500 for hire of the venue for the ceremony.
