St Mark's is a beautiful church in the heart of Wimbledon. It is a modern build as the old one burnt down, . It is 5 sided with stained glass windows, depicting the creation/beginning of the world, through which the sun gently reflects the colours into the church. Everyone has a 'good view' of the ceremonly whereever they are seated so you can be sure your late arrivals too will be pleasantly surprised. If anyone is worried about the noise young children may make there is a side chapel with clear views into the main hall ( just separated from the main by glass) - where young families can happily sit/play without being heard yet can see and hear the ceremonly clearly. You are free to choose any of the 3 Cof E services for your marriage ceremony - so traditional style ( we chose this one which surpisingly still blends in well with the style of the church) or modern. The Vical helped as much as we needed, gently guiding us with where we were free to make changes and where we should not - which suited us well but if you wanted to leave it to him I'm sure it would be good as well . Must say as we are keen on music - The Great sound created by the organist is marvellous . Behind is a large garden mainly laid to lawn which can accommodate over 150 people and kids will need no entertaining as at the back, is a large climbing frame suitalbe for practically all ages. We had glorious sunshine for our wedding so all the guests were out on the lawn but otherwise there is also a church hall to the side with space for seating or standing and all the usual kitchen fascilities Parking - no problems. Some free parking at the church and other parking at 'Centre Court' with no shortage of spaces at competitive rates. Transport - great links by rail/tube/ all within 5 minutes walk and if you need them taxi's are just lined up waiting for fares at the station ( 2-5 minute walk away) . Our evening reception was 3 miles away and no one had any problems with transport. A surpise benefit, we discovered, was that someone could pop out and pick up anything we needed from the shops on the high street --- our ushers bow ties went missing but no problems - replaced by a quick trip to Elys department store !!
We had a truely wonderful and blessed wedding day.
Come and visit St Mark's - you may be very pleasantly surprised to find this gem.
