As the Mum of the groom, I was thrilled with St Audries Park, it was just perfect. My son and his wife had the best wedding day, they were extremely happy. The location, food, and the staff were superb. We had an amazing time, everyone has good things to say about it.
Thank you so much for all of the hard work you put into the preparations leading up to the wedding, and on the day. You really helped us to relax throughout the day, and made the whole day run so smoothly. We would like to express our sincere sympathies to you and your family at this difficult time. It is always a deeply sad time when couples have to cancel their wedding plans and this is certainly not something we would wish for any of our couples.
As communicated to you recently by email, when a couple secures their date at St Audries Park, we are extremely careful to ensure that our terms and conditions are provided prior to a booking being made and key points are also reconfirmed in writing in the booking confirmation letter. We enter into an agreement with each of our couples as to the products and services we will provide and the payments due. 'We are truly sorry if that the couple did not pass this information across to you but I’m sure you can understand, it is not our duty to ensure that they do so.'
Furthermore, we are very familiar with the Competition and Markets Authority statement of March 2016 and can confirm that since this we have had our terms and conditions thoroughly reviewed by a legal team and we are operating in a compliant manner. There are venues out there that are charging 50% deposits up front, and this is what the CMA have quite rightly been trying to combat. Our payments are on a form of sliding scale depending on the time period between the booking and the wedding date, and are designed purely to protect the company from a loss in value of the rebooked date, assuming we manage to the rebook the date at all. Unfortunately when a date becomes less than a year away, it significantly decreases in value and this is why our further deposit payment schedule is put in place.
The other thing that we do suggest both verbally and in writing to all couples when they make a booking is that they research and invest in some form of wedding insurance. There are varying grades of insurance available but, with our couples planning so far in advance, we do recommend that they insure against potential losses should they need to cancel their plans for any unexpected reason.
We appreciate this is not the answer you were hoping for and I can completely understand your frustration with the situation but sadly we will not be changing our position in this instance.
