As soon as we drove up the long drive to Redworth hall we knew this was going to be the perfect setting for our May wedding. Set in 26 acres of landscaped gardens, this provided us with the perfect backdrop to take many beautiful photos, but also if it rained, inside was just as spectacular with its old Jacobean staircase and Great Hall. - Mr & Mrs Rochester
Situated just off the a1, it was easy for family to get to. We had family members travelling from all over the UK and the hotel housed plenty of rooms to rest their heads after their drive.
The hotel has many rooms in which couples can get married but we chose the Great Hall, one of the oldest parts of the hotel which dates back to 1693 with its original fireplaces and original wood floor. We had 99 people our wedding which fit perfectly into the Great hall for both our wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. On the evening, many more people attended therefore we booked out the Prince Bishop suite where we had a band and a large dancefloor for the party.
I stayed at the hotel with my bridesmaids the night before the wedding and had a relaxed night enjoying the spa with a relaxing massage and some good food in the evening.
Our wedding co-ordinator was called Sarah who was very experienced and accommodated all of our wishes. Sarah was friendly and seemed excited to be planning our wedding with us. She went through every final detail with us prior to the wedding to make sure no detail was left untouched. No question was a problem for Sarah and I sent her numerous emails which was met with a quick response. The wedding package was reasonably priced and compared to other venues included added extras such as a two tier wedding cake, table centrepieces, chair covers and also flowers for the top table, all able to be upgraded if need be.
On the day, the wedding went without a hitch. The sun shone and the day ran like clockwork thanks to the hotel staff who were professional throughout. Our meal was beautiful and included creamy vegetable soup to start, roast chicken dinner with vegetables and then a creme brûlée to finish. We were led through every step of the way by the master of ceremonies Damien.
The funniest moment of the day was on the evening when the resident DJ Geoff decided to make us play a game. Steven and I sat back to back with one another on the dancefloor and took one of each other's shoe. The DJ proceeded to go through a number of questions in which we had to put our shoe up as to who the question fit e.g who is the worst driver?, who is the most untidy? Everyone had a good laugh and it made people relax which resulted in everyone up at dancing at the end of the night with a few sore heads the next morning!
Our lasting memory of Redworth hall would be our perfect wedding day. We could not have picked a better place to get married and all of our guests commented on how beautiful the wedding was. Redworth hall will always hold a place in our hearts with very happy memories. [Read less]
