Kevin photographed our wedding last year and what an amazing job he did! My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the results.- Andy Rowlatt
Our wedding was in Cornwall, a good 3/4 hours away from where we live. We chose this location for the venue and pictured our lovely wedding outside in the glorious sunshine.
There could only have ever been one person for this special job on our big day, as we are privileged to have Kevin as part of our family and now my brother in law. You may now think that this makes the review biased, however I strongly believe that our wedding was Kevin’s most difficult and challenging he had experienced and maybe ever will.
Firstly, there was the added pressure of photographing his wife’s sister’s wedding plus the fact that he knew many of the guests, there was nowhere to hide on this one and knowing Kevin as we do, he would have wanted the pictures to be some of his best work.
Kevin being the professional he is, always insists on doing a ‘reccy’ of the location to bring his creative imagination to life and start the storyboard in his head. Unfortunately this was not possible, Kevin could only see the location on the internet. We were however at the venue the day before and
Kevin disappeared for hours taking in the surroundings, snapping away with samples and testing lighting. I was hugely impressed with his meticulous attention to detail.
The next problem was dealing with my wife and I. We had so much to set up for the wedding the previous day that Kevin struggled to get the discussion time in with us, something he normally does with his clients a few weeks before. Kevin did prise us away but only for a short period, however he took this all in his stride and carried on planning the day in the absence of any real direction from us!
Then came the wedding day, Kevin was up at 5:30am to prepare. He was everywhere but all with the stealth of a ninja! Kevin was busy filling up memory card after memory card shooting the all-important aspects of the day. The sun was shining and the ceremony was all ready to go outside. Kevin was with the bride about to walk around the gardens to everyone sat waiting for the ceremony. THEN DISASTER STRUCK! The heavens opened and ‘Cornish Confetti’ began to cover everything and everyone, mayhem ensued as guests carried their chairs inside and eventually the wedding was relocated. Throughout this Kevin kept his cool, even as the rain continued all afternoon and his ‘shot list’ went out of the window he snapped away, organising everyone and impressing them with his friendly demeanour and engaging personality.
The weather subsided for a short while and Kevin took the opportunity to help me take my very reluctant bride down to the beach, some 100 steep steps in her wedding dress! When we got to the beach the colours and scenery were fantastic, obviously something Kevin already knew.
The rest of the day went well, Kevin continued to take photos and I think he finished at just after midnight following some photos of my Groomsmen and I sat on a cannon in the pitch-black smoking cigars.
In hindsight, it was maybe unfair on Kevin to ask him to photograph our wedding, but I cannot tell you how pleased we were to have the honour of such a master of his trade. The photos are amazing, he used the poor weather to his advantage and came up with some spectacular shots, the cigar smoking Groomsmen photos were better than I had ever imagined in my head and don’t even get me started on the quality of the first dance photos. I literally cannot tell you enough how Kevin managed not just to take photos but completely captured the day in his instinctive style. Not only does Kevin devote himself to your day, he spends hours on your photos remastering them in his studio and the first viewing experience is a thoroughly enjoyable one.
Many people said to us that quite often things don’t go to plan on your wedding day. I think we had our fair share of issues even down to not being able to hear the intro to our first dance we had spent weeks practicing. However, Kevin’s calming influence, organised approach and professionalism ensured the day was a success in difficult circumstances.
Obviously I’m going to show favouritism when it comes to Kevin but this review would be no different if he wasn’t a member of the family. Please decide for yourself though, have a look at his website and his many other reviews, Kevin is truly gifted and you will not be disappointed if you choose to use him. We are about to move into a new house and are so excited choosing some of our wedding photos to showcase in our new home. [Read less]
