Wow what a fantastic venue! We first came for a look round in early 2015. At the time the outside walls were a dull grey colour and we were a little apprehensive- however this had now been painted and looks much better from the outside and as the old saying goes true beauty is on the inside! We were shown around by a wedding co-oridinator, Bev and we were attracted by the beautiful gardens and decor, as we were only having 40 day guests and around 80 evening the size was perfect, ample free parking and great access for disabled guests as some of our party were. We didn't hesitate to book the venue for March 2017! Throughout the planning Bev was friendly and helpful, we were a little concerned when just 3 months before the wedding we were informed Bev had left the business and our wedding planning had been taken over by another co-ordinator, Claire however our concerns were soon lifted as Claire was equally as friendly and informative and the transition was so smooth. Claire was there the day before he wedding as I was staying over and as you would expect we were nervous but she put us at ease and introduced us to Rachel, the master of ceremonies who again was lovely and reassured us if we needed anything throughout the wedding weekend she and the team would be there to help. Rachel checked all day we were happy with everything and met any requests we had efficiently and with a smile! In the run up to the wedding we also had a taste test for the meal and Matthew who served us was great throughout and answered all our questions and anything we didn't know he took time to ask and the food on the day- canapés, wedding breakfast and the evening buffet were all an excellent standard. The hotel DJ Carlos was also excellent, kept us all entertained throughout the evening! The bridal suite which I stayed in the night before and night of the wedding was beautiful and a great size for a bridal party getting ready (I had myself, 4 bridesmaids, 2 mum's and the lady doing hair and make up and still plenty of room!) they even made the towels into swans with a card in the middle before the night of the wedding which was a nice touch. The main bar was also open 24 hours- perfect if you want to carry on the party after the disco which some of us did! The following morning Rachel had cordoned off an area for us and any guests who had stayed over to enjoy our breakfast (buffet style-very good!) and even disassembled our cake stand for us! All in all I can not fault the mercure as a wedding venue-- the combination of wonderful staff who go the extra mile, lovely decor, beautiful gardens and great food all at a budget to suit any couple meant a fantastic day we will remember forever!
First off let me apologise for the length of time it's taken me to send an email to you, it's been abit hectic since we landed back in the UK!
Let me start by saying WOW me and Katie cannot even begin to describe how unbelievably happy we where with everything! We had the photos back at the weekend and they are amazing especially the ones taken in the garden - ill attach a couple at the bottom for you to have a look at so you never forget us!
We made alot of decisions regarding the wedding based on gut feeling and from the first day we walked through the doors of the mercure chester abbots well till we checked out after the wedding we've never once felt like we made the wrong choice in picking the venue and will always highly recommend you guys whenever I'm asked.
Me and Katie both agree we where quite sad when everything was finished as you guys have made us feel so welcome every time we popped in for a little chat or just for a walk round the grounds - it almost feels like we've lost a bit of family as you've been there for a massive part of our lives.
We both thought all your staff on the day where highly professional and welcoming and have absolutely no complaints about them.
Dom was incredible on the day he was very good at reading situations and was always at hand to step in when he was required so please pass on our heartfelt thanks to him and we hope he has had an amazing time in OZ.
We felt a little bit sorry for Helen As she was thrown in at the deep end with our crazy mob but she did so well - we can only say sorry to her for getting her up to dance with the waiters - but she handled it well and we hope it wasn't to uncomfortable for her!
The rest of the staff where also great we just can't remember all the names but as I say please pass on our thanks to everyone who was involved in our wedding from front of house to bar staff to caterers -everybody thank you for being part of our day.
Finally a massive thank you to you,from the very first time we met you,we have always thought you've been a pleasure to work with and have never once come away feeling stressed or annoyed from our meetings - you where always so calm and reassuring about everything and it made us feel so at ease - as I say from the moment we met you we had a gut feeling we had made the right choice and we couldn't have been happier with our choice of wedding coordinator - you did an amazing job and we will be forever grateful - it wouldn't have been the same without you =]

This Venue is absolutley fantastic and I would recommend to any future Bride & Groom looking for a venue for their special day.
From Start to finish the whole process of booking and dealing with the venue for our day was made really easy due to excellent communication from the events team. The staff and hotel went above an beyond our expectations to ensure they delivered the day that we wanted......no job was to big or too small for them to complete.
The venue itself is fantastic with great grounds and a beautiful garden that is ideal for capturing the pictures you want of your wedding day. The Bridal suite was beautiful and the use of the sauna and swimming pool facilities helped us relax and enjoy our special day even more.
I am normally the first to complain when something is not right but the Mecure got every little detail perfect for our day and I would like to thank all the staff involved for making our day so special.
