From the moment we decided to have our wedding ceremony at the Holy Cross Church in Sherston, we were warmly greeted by the Reverend and Curates as well as the local community.
The church itself is wonderful and was the perfect place for our wedding. In the months leading up to our wedding we felt very supported by Susan Harvey, the curate who was performing our marriage ceremony and we were invited to a marriage preparation day with other couples where we could discuss our thoughts and ideas.
We really couldn't fault the church and the team who helped arrange our wedding.
The only exception we would make to this is the organist (Eric), we had opted to have an organist and paid him £100 to play during our ceremony. However, having accepted our booking, he later advised us that he had been invited to another wedding on the same day and, while he could still perform at our wedding, we were left with no doubt that he would be in a hurry.
What we didn't expect was that he would unilaterally decide to cut short one of our three hymns and completely cut out another. This left us feeling disappointed and having to explain to our guests why our order of service included a hymn that wasn't part of our ceremony.
In short, we would highly recommend people to consider the Holy Cross in Sherston, but if requiring an organist, perhaps choose one of the others available through the church or select your own.
