In a nutshell Absolutely Fantastic!
We booked Battle Abbey School for my daughters wedding over 18months ago.
The venue is beautiful both inside and out, which provides a wonderful ambience and setting for photographs.
The preliminary arrangements and organisation proved very straight forward and was much simplified with assistance and guidance provided by the staff of Battle Abbey School.
We purchased toasting champagne (in our case Presecco) and table wine from Majestic Wine, Calais using the quantities recommended by Battle Abbey; paying corkage for bottles consumed. Fortunately we had a few bottles over after the wedding, which I’ll enjoy over the next month two.
We were provided access to the venue on the day prior to the wedding, which allowed plenty of time to place flowers, decorations and lighting for the event.
The actual wedding day went like clockwork from start to finish, though my daughter did need holding back when walking up the isle, she seemed desperate to get to this over and done with. We provided a quartet who played live at the beginning and end of the ceremony and throughout the wedding breakfast.
Whilst it was a sunny warm day up until 3pm the weather turn a bit misty with some drizzle a little later. However this proved perfect for soft and flattering photos, as they say every cloud has a silver lining. At this stage we were fast approaching the wedding breakfast and most of the guest had retreated to the bar.
The wedding breakfast was delightful, the food excellent I couldn’t help noticing that the waiters and waitresses always had big smiles on their faces. If this were simply a restaurant I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this venue based purely on quality of food, ambience and friendliness of staff. But as a wedding venue it set the bar on the top notch.
The evening was great fun and more guests arrived to inject further energy into the event. Our band Sam Culver were superb along with the DJ who played selections listed on invitation replies.
Tables were placed around the outside of the dance floor and also in the bar area so that everybody had the option to sit comfortably and dance at their leisure.
It was obvious the girls behind the bar were enjoying the music and again they always had smiles on their faces, this really was appreciated.
A special thank you to James Dennett who discussed and sorting preliminary arrangements
An extra special thank you to Aaron Pawson and Loti who went over and beyond, what we have could ever have hoped for. They both stars and deserve a pay rise.
Finally to Grace and the catering staff , thank you helped make the day.
I hope I haven’t missed anyone, if I had another daughter I would certainly steer her toward Battle Abbey as a venue for her wedding and reception.
My rating Seven Stars
