After an unexpected, creative and personal proposal, Victoria and Menno married this year, celebrating their 4 years together with a wedding to remember. Victoria had seen a few weddings before with stressed-out brides, and promised herself that she wasn't going to be like that!Â
True to her word, Victoria and Menno agreed they both wanted a relaxed wedding where both of their families could get to know each other. With Menno being Dutch, his family were travelling over from the Netherlands to celebrate with the happy couple, so they decided to rent a country house in Somerset and do the whole thing there. Of course, who else could point them in the right direction but The Big House Company.
The couple opted for a mini festival theme, with photos captured by Garter Wedding Photography, and the weather remained on their side for the whole day! There was ice cream, a caravan bar, and fire pits for the evening. Hay bales and rustic tables and chairs were scattered around a number of food trucks, meaning everyone could move about and mingle with each other. They wanted to avoid a sit-down dinner as it's always a gamble who you'll end up next to!
But it didn't stop there. The following day they threw a BBQ with their family and a few friends, giving them the chance to talk properly with their guests - the wedding day just went so fast!
The happy couple then took themselves off on a mini-moon for four days in Somerset to enjoy some time with each other, but are looking to go big in the New Year with a trip to Cuba. Victoria plans to tick a few things off her bucket list, including going salsa dancing in a Havana club. She might have to find a dance partner though - Menno isn't so keen on salsa!
Top tip from the couple; do what you want to do. Don't feel pressured to do what others think is best - it's your day after all!
