Sophie and Nick – Through Thick and Thin
Sophie and Nick’s touching story began at university, first getting together in fresher’s week. After graduating, they both moved back to the village that Nick grew up in, when Nick became very ill. He was diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma and spent six months in hospital having treatment, which eventually ended in a stem cell transplant. During this time, Nick tragically lost his sight after the cancer attacked the nerves linking his brain and optical nerves.
Nick was declared cancer free in July 2014, and after Sophie’s incredible and unwavering support throughout his battle, he decided to propose. After choosing the ring with his mum, he attached it to the string of a balloon and put it in a box for her to unwrap on Christmas day. Their beautiful day was celebrated with 120 close friends and family, and their incredible story has been filmed by ITV for a documentary about this amazing couple. The cameras captured all parts of the wedding planning process, from Nick’s stag do in Benidorm to him being introduced to guide dogs.
