Sarah and Ali originally met on Tinder and after hitting it off on their first date they tied the knot at Lains Barn back in October 2017. Ali proposed to Sarah on a hot air balloon over Bagan at sunrise, in the middle of their backpacking trip around Myanmar (Burma). The breathtaking views made the proposal extremely romantic and very creative.
The couple then spent 11 months planning the big day and during that time, Sarah found a stunning pre-loved Mori Lee wedding dress in the hidden treasure that is Gillian Million Boutique in Twickenham. The couple decided on a rustic elegance wedding theme which involved the beautiful tones of lavender grey, silver, burgundy and sage green.
The registrar opened the Persian wedding ceremony with the sentence, ‘You think you are here because of Sarah and Ali, but they acknowledge that they are here because of you’. There were a number of beautiful blessings from family and friends that followed, including the couple feeding each other honey – a way to show desire and to bring sweet life to each other in the years to come. The barn was decorated in 50ft of bunting handmade by Sarah’s mother and ‘flower balls’ hanging from the ceiling beams in the barn, as well as the beautiful flower arch. The wedding also included touching tributes to Ali’s Mother, Zinat, who sadly died when he was 11.
We asked Sarah and Ali what their wedding highlights were and they both said the 5 minutes they had to themselves hidden away in a shed at the back of the barn just after getting married. They also said they loved taking their seats at dinner, looking around to find their guests noticing the vintage polaroid prints at their place-setting. The couple loved watching their faces as they relived the memories.
