Carly and Kelv - A Quirky East London Wedding with Hog Roast

Carly and Kelv’s East London wedding in September was full of fun, quirky touches. From the bespoke wedding dress to the doughnut wedding cake, their wedding was personalised to them from start to finish. Their wedding day was captured by expert London wedding photographer, Paul Gapper.

The venue

Their venue was the industrial chic 4th Floor Studios in East London. The couple chose it for its fabulous menu as well as the quirkiness of its aesthetic. After tying the knot in a ceremony surrounded by their family and friends, Carly and Kelv enjoyed a delicious hog roast followed by Baileys bread and butter pudding for dessert. The evening food sounded just as mouthwatering, as there was a macaroni cheese buffet with its own topping station, so guests could add extras such as haggis, jalapeños, breadcrumbs and sauces.

The fashion

Bride Carly looked beautiful in a dove grey wedding dress with butterfly details made especially for her by her mum’s best friend. Her two bridesmaids complemented the look perfectly, as they wore white tops and lavender grey maxi skirts, while the groom looked dapper in a true blue suit and tartan waistcoat provided by Moss Bros.

The reception

Their London wedding had a loose literary theme, as Carly wanted to incorporate her love of books into the big day. The table names were quotes from the couple’s favourite books, and books made for simple table centres. They even incorporated writers into their wedding ceremony, as well as having the lyrics to Billy Joel’s ‘And So It Goes’ read by a friend. For favours, each guest received a badge with a fact or joke about them on it.

In the evening, Carly and Kelv choose a delicious tower of Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of a traditional wedding cake. This went down a storm with their 140 guests! A seven-piece live band kept the dancefloor going all night, and neon signs and fairy lights made the perfect decorations.

So what was their favourite part of the wedding day? ‘The whole thing!” says Carly. “It was just amazing to be surrounded by people championing us.”

After the big day, the happy newlyweds took a well-deserved minimoon in a cottage with a private spa.
