Rachel and Rob - Love in The Big Apple

Mystery trip? Rachel couldn't quite believe it - 8 years into their relationship, 1 overnight hotel stay for her 30th and partner Rob was telling her to book 4 days off for March in January?! In a state of shock, Rachel kept quiet about it, as tantalising as it would have been to fish for clues... The one thing on her mind was knowing what to pack!\nThrough her own powers of deduction, next to Terminal 5 at Heathrow, it all became clear. Rob had pulled out the big guns: The two were heading to New York!\nLanding in NYC, the pair made like true New Yorkers - we're talking seeing a basketball game at the Barclays Center, walking the High Line, Times Square, Central Park and taking on the Rockefeller Centre. At this powerhouse of business, Rob and Rachel posed for professional photographs in front of the Empire State building, the place every girl knows from big city rom-coms!\nRob wanted more photos, which Rachel thought was a bit strange, being pushed towards the photographer again for another sneaky shot, this time, without their backpacks! Laughing, Rachel went along with the whole charade. Then, at the top of the city, looking towards the Empire State building, she felt a nudge on her elbow, spun round and there was Rob, down on one knee, asking her to marry him - for all of New York to see! Was this for real? Of course it was.\nAs for the ring, Rachel thought it looked familiar - and it was. A week before, Rob had picked up her mum's eternity ring, a special and significant choice. The newly engaged couple were very much on top of the world! Coming back down to earth, the two raced back to the hotel to make long distance calls to their families! This was followed by takeaway pizza, waking up the next morning to a champagne breakfast delivered to the door - an engagement present from Rachel's sister!\nBoth agree that this was an AMAZING trip. A graphic designer by trade (who also dabbles in wedding stationery - www.gannonandegg.co.uk), Rachel was immediately on the case in putting together her save-the-dates!
