Marquees often used to be a cheap venue option whereas these days, marquees are a seriously stylish wedding venue option. Whether you're having an intimate gathering or a large, lavish wedding reception, a marquee is the perfect choice. They can also be decorated to suit any style or budget of wedding.

If you're hoping to have a small, intimate ceremony in your chosen venue in West Midlands but wish to invite lots more guests for the reception, marquee venues are ideal for you, as lots of smaller venues tend to offer space for a marquee reception outside. It may be that your venue has a permanent marquee on their grounds, or there’s simply space for you to choose your own to hire. In this case, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from in West Midlands . Will you hire a classic English marquee with roll up sides, or maybe a festival-style yurt or tipi? Most marquees are a blank canvas so you are able to add your own personal touches to it, including the flooring, colour scheme and choice of dance floor.

You will often find orangery's in manor houses and hotels. They will give you that outdoor feeling without having to be outside, you will get picturesque views right from your seat. Choosing an orangery will give you beautiful natural day light, along with views of the night stars in the evening.

A marquee wedding in venue grounds is the ideal place to get married if:

  • Space for lots of guests is needed
  • You want to marry in a outdoor space, such as a garden or woodland
  • You'd love to add your own personality to your venue
  • You'd like to have a small ceremony but a large celebration for your wedding reception

Orangery wedding venues are perfect for you if;

  • Wanting outside views without having to be outside
  • An open space for your guests to enjoy the atmosphere

Orangery & Marquee Weddings Frequently Asked Questions

Will my wedding venue put up my marquee for me?

Every wedding venue differs when it comes to what's included in the price. Some venues will just offer a space for the marquee to go and others will provide the tent itself. In some cases, the venue will only charge you for the hire of the grounds, and then you’ll have to arrange the marquee separately with a marquee hire company. Your wedding venue may have recommended marquee suppliers for this, so be sure to check with them.

In other cases, your wedding venue in West Midlands may have a permanent marquee in the grounds, or one that is in use throughout the summer month, for example. This may be a simpler choice if you don’t want to arrange your wedding marquee directly.

Am I able to have my wedding in a marquee in winter?

Definitely! If you provide a little extra heating and don't mind not being able to roll up the sides, a marquee is perfect for a winter wedding! The difference is that you won’t be able to roll the sides of the tent up (which is generally an option in the warmer months), and that you’ll have to provide extra heating for your guests to keep your marquee warm. Once you cover the ceiling in fairy lights and add sparking venue decoration, your marquee will fit a winter wedding perfectly.

What if the weather is bad?

Most marquees in West Midlands should be able to withstand wind and rain. However, you will want a second plan for if there's storms on your wedding day. It's likely most venues will have an indoor area for you to have your wedding reception. Discuss your wet weather plan with your wedding venue to ensure you’re prepared for any poor weather conditions.

Can we have a civil ceremony in a marquee in West Midlands ?

Even in marquees that are permanent throughout the whole year, it's law that you can't have your civil ceremony in a marquee as it needs to be in a permanent and fixed structure to be legal. One way to get around this is to have your ceremony over the threshold of a doorway. This way, your guests can be seated in the marquee while you are technically indoors. A popular option is to have the ceremony in the main building of the venue, or even a church nearby and then just have the wedding reception in the marquee.

Can we have a civil ceremony in an orangery in West Midlands ?

If the venue has licensed the orangery for civil ceremonies, you are able to have a beautiful ceremony in there. You will have incoming natural lighting and views of stunning grounds and gardens for your wedding photographs.

I'm getting married in West Midlands . How can I decorate my wedding marquee or orangery?

The great thing about marquees is that they’re a blank canvas to add your own wedding theme to. Hanging decorations such as are a fantastic choice, which could include paper lanterns, bunting or other types of lights. Lighting options such as fairy lights and chandeliers can also help set the mood for your evening reception. You will want some decor for the tables. In a marquee, it's best to go for more extravegent centre pieces to fill up the large space available. You could go for a tall vase with flowers in to match your theme.

Orangery's are a great space to decorate, you can apply any theme to it. You can use the views as part of the decor and create a stunning space for your wedding.
