Jamaica is probably the Caribbean’s most famous island, offering visitors a heady cocktail of sublime weather, pristine beaches, fun cities and interesting cultural attractions. Although it’s an incredibly popular country to visit with its considerable charms, it remains a great bet for a relaxing and fun-filled Jamaica honeymoon.
Home to jerk chicken, rice and peas, stunning beaches, Bob Marley, reggae music, beguiling blue waters and the irresistible Jamaican charm – let the Jamaican spell bewitch you and have you coming back year on year – as so many others have done in the past.
About the climate:
The best time to visit Jamaica is from December – May, when it’s not hurricane season and the climate is milder and cooler.
December – February: During these months the weather in Jamaica averages at around 27 degrees celsius, but often reaches the low 30s. These months are not peak tourist season, which means that not only will prices be lower, but beaches won’t be packed with other honeymooning couples. This is a great choice of honeymoon destination for couples who want to explore a beautiful island and spend time soaking up the sun.
March – May: During peak season, temperatures in Jamaica often reach 30 degrees celsius. March, April and May are wonderful months to visit Jamaica if you want sunny weather with little chance of rain. Typically, March is the month with the least rain in Jamaica. If you want a honeymoon filled with sun, sand and sea, then March, April and May are a fantastic time to make a trip to Jamaica.
About the culture:
Jamaican culture is well documented, and with very good reason! It has arguably the richest and most compelling history in the English-speaking Caribbean, and Jamaicans are passionate about music, food and living life to the fullest. Having weathered enslavement and oppression, Jamaicans are strong people with entrenched values about how they wish to live their lives. English is the predominant language, but many also speak a local dialect called patois. Reggae is inherent to Jamaican culture, so expect to hear it blasting out in bars all over the island as you sip your cocktail overlooking a jaw-droppingly beautiful sunset!
What we love:
The general atmosphere in this fascinating country: everything is classically Caribbean and more. Little tip: stay at The Caves Hotel in Negril – these secluded cabins are a honeymoon dream.
Take me there!
