Honeymoon in India is unlike anywhere else in the world. The cities are awash with colour and noise, the sights and smells will overwhelm your senses as you get lost in the cacophony of sounds emanating from this incredibly vibrant country. Meanwhile, out in the more rural parts, the pace of life slows back down enormously and you can get lost in the stunning array of mountain ranges, deserts and beaches that honeymoon destinations in India have to offer.
India really does have it all: incredibly friendly locals, delicious food (if you like curry!), a constant sense of history, the Taj Mahal, as well as an amazing array of diversity in terms of the people who live there and the architecture and food. Whilst flights may be expensive for honeymoon destinations in India, once there, general living costs are very cheap. What’s not to love?
About the activities:
There is so much to see and do in India you could spend a couple of years exploring India and still not see all of the amazing things on offer. India can generally be broken up into 4 main areas: the north (Himalayas), the south (beaches), the west (desert) and the east (tribal territory).
Rajasthan in particular is a special part of India, and some historians say there is more history in Rajasthan than in the rest of India combined! A great 3 week trip might include a sightseeing, food and cultural tour to Delhi, Agra (including the Taj Mahal), Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. The sense of history is clear to see in these places and you will be blown away by the variety of mausoleums, temples and palaces.
India is also the birthplace of so many religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism, so if you want to learn more about these religions – India is the perfect place to get in touch with your spiritual side.
About the weather:
The best time to visit India in our opinion is from October – March during their equivalent of winter – when the climate will be cooler than the sweltering summer. During the summer, monsoon season will be in full swing and you will find it pours continuously for hours, and then is interspersed with extreme humidity and sunshine. So, best to avoid this generally and to have your honeymoon in India during the winter months. It’ll make for a more pleasant trip generally.
What we love:
The food. India has such a vast array of different dishes, each one more mouth-watering, fragrant and colourful than the next. For vegetarians also, there is a great selection of dhal based dishes that will have you begging not to leave!
Take me there!
