Why Florida?

Known as the ‘Sunshine State’, honeymoon destinations in Florida are endless. Whether it’s fine wining-and-dining, learning about space exploration, discovering endangered wildlife, riding a roller coaster or bronzing on one of its famous beaches, you will be charmed by Florida. Enticing venues offer everything from water slides to rollicking roller coasters, and themed animal habitats attract thousands to the accompanying resort hotels on the mammoth sites of Disney World, Sea World, Busch Gardens and other major resort operators.

Key information

Despite Florida’s reputation for glitz and glamour, it’s also home to St. Augustine – the oldest European settlement in Northern America. Likewise, the Florida Quays are a strip of 120 miles of beautiful tropical islands along the southern tip of the state. They are definitely worth seeing and experiencing – perfect for honeymoon in Florida.

About the climate:

In the summer months, Florida’s tropical temperatures often reach highs of 30 degrees and above, it’s not known as the ‘Sunshine State’ for nothing! Although be warned that the Atlantic summer hurricane season can be troublesome in terms of wind and rain.

March, April, October & November: It’s always a great time to visit Florida, with year-round average temperatures of 28-30 degrees celsius. However, the months of March, April, October and November are popular choices for couples going on their Florida honeymoon because there will be sunny weather, yet cool enough to do some sight-seeing. For couples who want to take a trip to Disney World, there’s no better time to visit!

About the culture:

Although Florida is known for its historic landmarks such as the Castillo de San Marcos, it is also a hub of multiculturalism – with eclectic areas such as Little Havana in Miami giving a cosmopolitan feel. With guaranteed sunshine for the majority of the year, Florida’s culture revolves around a laid back vibe that extends to all corners of this beautiful state.

What we love:

The Florida Quays are fantastic, but we also love the Everglades National Park, where you can catch a hovercraft over the swampy terrain and see the alligators in their natural habitat. It’s not for everyone but it certainly makes a good story when you return from the honeymoon!
