Why Abu Dhabi?
Despite not garnering as much attention as its flashy neighbour Dubai, Abu Dhabi – the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is a city of excess and glamour that is on an upward trajectory at the moment. With the world’s fastest rollercoaster, year-round sunshine, picture-postcard beaches and a fantastic array of world class hotels and restaurants, it’s hard not to see the appeal. Whilst the country was only founded in 1971, the pace of change has been quick and Abu Dhabi today is a metropolis very much rooted in the 21st century, but with the beachy charm to make the perfect Emirates honeymoon destination.
Key information
Abu Dhabi is not a city that does things by halves: the world’s largest hand-loomed carpet, the tower with the greatest lean, the largest mix of cultural buildings in the 21st century, the tallest high tea, the list goes on and on and only adds to the intoxicating atmosphere of this intriguing metropolis when on an Abu Dhabi honeymoon.
About the activities:
There is always something to do in Abu Dhabi, even if you just plan on spending your honeymoon reclining on the beach, there is a vast array of shopping malls at your disposal. Stroll around the old markets haggling over trinkets, soak up the atmosphere at the sheesha cafés, and, if you’d like to mix it up, it’s only a short drive out to the Arabian Desert where you can enjoy dune buggy driving and camel back riding.
Abu Dhabi is also home to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, where educational tours are held throughout the day as visitors are able to learn more about Islam. Ferrari World is the best spot for those thrill seeking honeymooners, you and your partner could try out some of the fastest Ferrari themed rollercoasters or go head to head at go-karting.
About the weather:
In our opinion, the best time to visit is from November through to May, when the temperature is a bit cooler (25 degrees) than the sweltering heat of mid summer. Don’t fret regardless, the extensive ice-cool air conditioning systems in every hotel, restaurant, mall, car mean it’s balmy visiting Abu Dhabi any time of year.
What we love:
The laid back, beach vibe, hand in hand with some stellar art museums and high quality hotels – creates a fairly irresistible Abu Dhabi honeymoon concoction.
